A Lavish Reconcile

Nicki Minaj, Cardi B

Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have had an industry beef for as long as Cardi B has been getting radio streams. Though they may not claim their beef publicly, the public eye has always pinned them against one another, for at certain points in time, being the only two females in hip-hop. Violence did tremble the night of the Met Gala in 2018 when someone was hit in the head with a shoe, however, a reconciliation may be in the near future. Rumor has it, the two are collaborating again.

Cardi B found herself in a lot of hit over the past week or so. There was some drama on Twitter about her and speaking out incorrectly on certain things happening in the world. It truly seemed Cardi was getting tons of messages from fans from different countries asking her to support them and their situation, only to be followed up by the surrounding countries saying its was wrong and she was supporting the wrong things. To this, she had to publicly apologize to social media saying she just wants world peace and does not know the extent of what is happening in other countries.

On top of this, she publicly spent her birthday weekend getting pretty cozy with who we thought was her ex-husband. Offset got Cardi a huge billboard and posted videos of her nonstop for her birthday. They ultimately ended the weekend each sharing Tweets that said “y’all won,” leaving us to believe that maybe they will live happily ever after. Cardi also made a statement saying that no matter what happens, that is Kulture’s dad and she wants her fans to respect him, so he can remain right and do right by their daughter.

Needless to say, the people were all up in Cardi’s business this week. With that, she wants to give us something else to mad about, apparently. Last weekend, Cardi shared a Tweet stating:

Since ya mad .. imma give ya something mad to be about ….. This next single and coll- …. Gonna have ya sick …. since ya here

This tweet not only means a new single is on the wall, it does not only share that it should be a collaboration, but it is a collab single that we likely were not expecting. She would never collaborate with Tekashi 6ix9ine right? No way it is Tory Lanez after WAP, right? Doja Cat? Eh. Who could it be?

The name you either instantly thought of. Or the name you did not think of because there is just no way that would ever happen, sounds like it could be true. Rumors have spread that this collaboration is a Cardi B and Nicki Minaj collab.

The last the two had collaborated together was on Motorsport with the Migos in 2018. Though this song topped charts and was the anthem for a moment, the track did not go over well for the ladies. Nicki Minaj was upset that Cardi told the world Nicki had changed her verse. Though she did not explain why, if you hear the original version, it is so clear why Cardi felt a type of way about the verse that she did hear. Where Nicki Minaj says “if Quavo the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi,” the original version actually said “if Cardi the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi.” Essentially stating that Nicki was better than Cardi, and led the path for her, just has Vince Lombardi had led his football team to three Super Bowl Champions as the head coach and general manager.

Though this was definitely an awkward moment for the ladies at the top of hip-hop, it seems possible that the feud is coming to an end. After the WAP video had released, Cardi B did a press run and interviews alone and with the group of females she had present during the video. In these interviews, Cardi touched on Nicki Minaj, how she was an incredible female doing great things in the industry, on her own because she was the only female there at the time. She felt that when Cardi came up, people pinned them against one another because she was no longer the only female. However, nowadays, the females are taking over, and instead of fighting one another, they should be lifting each other up.

While it seems like Cardi is ready to squash the beef for all the right reasons, I do know that Nicki just wants to be in her bag. She made the song with Tekashi 6ix9ine, knowing her family and industry brothers would not care for that. She did the song with Doja Cat then tweeted she was basically begged to do it. The second WAP came out Nicki decided to start tweeting about how proud of Megan she was. It all just seems a bit staged. Even A$AP Ferg got cancelled by his own crew after releasing the song with Nicki.

Artist’s primes come and go, and after Nicki has her child, who knows how much we will see of her. I do think that she is doing the right thing with collaborations for her business and her pockets. They undoubtedly will do numbers off of pure curiosity, and of course the Barbz would never let her down. A Cardi B collaboration is absolutely shocking, and that is exactly what her fans want to hear. Especially, during such times begging and pleading for female empowerment and safety.

So how do we even know if this is the actually the collaboration? Well, allegedly there was a page for the song on Genius already for a short amount of time prior to it being removed. Yes, anyone can make a page on Genius with lyrics, however, the song was called Lavish, and there is a snippet floating around the internet.

The snippet is on YouTube and is reportedly produced by Mike Will Made It. The quality is really poor, and it does not feel like it was mixed and mastered at all. This could be the new hit, or it could be a reach from a fan who mashed up random old clips. If this is the clip, it sounds like the ladies might still be attempting to go bar for bar against one another, but a little friendly competition never hurt anyone.

No matter what way you look at it, it is a collaboration single we need to hear. No confirmation on the release or if it is the Nicki song just yet, but hopefully we get our answers soon.
