Kanye West’s Presidential Campaign Video 2020

With the insane rants we have witness from Kanye West on Twitter, it is likely not a surprise that Ye had deleted his Instagram in 2018. Even when the page was live, posts were scattered, and they were never really photos of him or his family. Two years later, Kanye has reactivated his Instagram account. Instant word got around and while there was a slight hope for new music, we received the Kanye West 2020 Vision, Presidential Campaign Video.

The campaign video shows Kanye West, standing in front of a waving American flag, in black and white. He is so clearly reading each and every word from a prompter of some sort, that is over to the side instead of right up ahead. The video also takes us through clips of families at dinner, families praying, welcoming each other home, and more instances of families caring and loving for one another. This was a huge part of what the campaign speech was meant to showcase.

Kanye mentioned that the most important impact he would have on the country is reinstalling faith and prayer amongst citizens. He says that we all have a purpose, greater than ourselves. We should be servants to each other, to lift each other up and prosper together. This one minute and twenty-two second campaign speech was entirely about instilling faith and religion amongst the citizens in order to make America a better place.

In a way, he is correct by saying that happy homes and families, and bringing the communities together, can help to make a difference. However, he mentions the constitutions statement that we have the “freedom to practice our own religion.” Kanye’s speech seems like if he were to become president, we would all be forced into practicing one religion. Hey, that religion may just be Sunday Church and every Sunday is a Sunday Funday from now on. Though, I am just getting some strange Utopian vibes.

If you are wondering, Kanye cannot run for President, the ballots are already out, etc. The end of the video, Kanye does acknowledge by typing “Write In Kanye West.” So, if you were one of those people who wrote in Harambe’s name in 2016, this would be your chance to write in Kanye. Although, I would recommend giving yourself a legitimate voice in the election.

So is faith the only thing that Kanye will do if were to become the President? Loud speakers in all the street lights waking us up in prayer every morning? Not quite. Kanye West wrote his own ten commandments about what he vows to execute if he were to become president. Each commandment does not directly speak to faith, but Kanye ties each one of them back to a statement in the Bible, which provides insight to why these things should already be happening, if we were to practice our faith in full.

You may find the the commandments on Kanye’s 2020 Campaign website, which he also linked in the caption of his Instagram post that displays the campaign video. The commandments, followed by the quotes in the Bible they were inspired by, are represented below.

1. RESTORE FAITH AND REVIVE OUR CONSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT TO FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND THE FREE EXERCISE OF ONE’S FAITH, DEMONSTRATED BY RESTORING PRAYER IN THE CLASSROOM INCLUDING SPIRITUAL FOUNDATIONS.

WE WILL NOT HIDE THE TRUTH FROM OUR CHILDREN, BUT WILL DECLARE TO THE NEXT GENERATION HIS PRAISES AND WONDER. PSALM 78:4

2. RESTORE THE SOUND NATIONAL ECONOMY. REDUCE HOUSEHOLD DEBT AND STUDENT LOAN DEBT.

GOD HAS PLANS TO GIVE US HOPE AND A FUTURE. JEREMIAH 29:11

3. PROVIDE LEADERSHIP TO RESTRUCTURE OUR COUNTRY’S EDUCATION SYSTEM TO SERVE THE MOST AT-RISK AND VULNERABLE POPULATIONS ALLOWING THE WIDEST POSSIBLE RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL PATHS TO JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND CAREER SUCCESS.

DIRECT YOUR CHILDREN ON THE RIGHT PATH. PROVERBS 22:6

4. MAINTAIN A STRONG NATIONAL DEFENSE, FULLY PREPARED, BUT NOT SO QUICK TO TIE UP OUR COUNTRY’S YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN IN FOREIGN QUAGMIRES THAT DO NOT ADVANCE OUR NATIONAL INTEREST, AND WHICH LAST FOR DECADES.

THROUGH GOD WE SHALL DO VALIANTLY. PSALM 60:12

5. REFORM THE LEGAL SYSTEM TO PROVIDE TRUE JUSTICE, EQUITABLE FOR ALL CITIZENS, REGARDLESS OF RACE OR ABILITY TO DEFEND ONESELF IN COURT. RECOGNIZE THE DISPARITY IN VERDICTS AND PRISON SENTENCES, CAUSED BY THE LACK OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES OR LEGAL ASSISTANCE.

THERE WILL NOT BE DIFFERING WEIGHTS AND DIFFERING MEASURES. PROVERBS 20:10

6. REFORM THE APPROACH TO POLICING IN A MANNER THAT TREATS ALL AMERICANS THE SAME, REGARDLESS OF RACE, COLOR, OR ETHNICITY. REFOCUS POLICE FORCES ON REAL CRIME. ELIMINATE FEDERAL SENTENCING GUIDELINES THAT TIE THE HANDS OF JUDGES, RESULTING IN RIDICULOUS SENTENCES FOR THE MOST MINOR OFFENSES.

WE WILL SPEAK FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. PROVERBS 31:8

7. TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT, DILIGENTLY PURSUING CLEAN AIR AND WATER AS A NATIONAL SECURITY PRIORITY AND MAKING RENEWABLES TOP PRIORITY.

8. ENSURE THAT WE ALWAYS PLACE AMERICANS’ BEST INTEREST FIRST AND FOREMOST IN DEALING WITH FOREIGN AFFAIRS. WE MUST PROJECT STRENGTH, NOT AGGRESSION. WE WANT TRUST, BUT WE MUST ALSO VERIFY. WE WANT FAIR TRADE, NOT ONE-SIDED DEALS THAT HURT AMERICAN WORKERS.

BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS, FOR THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF GOD. MATTHEW 5:9

9. SUPPORT FAITH-BASED GROUPS TO PROVIDE VITAL LOCAL SERVICES, GIVING COMMUNITIES A SHARED PURPOSE IN GOVERNMENT.

WE WILL PROVIDE WAYS TO MOTIVATE ONE ANOTHER TO ACTS OF LOVE AND GOOD WORKS. HEBREWS 10:24

10. CREATIVITY AND THE ARTS CAN BE AN IMPORTANT SOURCE OF INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF OTHER NATIONAL STRENGTHS AND RESOURCES.

HE HAS GIVEN THEM SKILL IN ALL KINDS OF WORK DONE. EXODUS 35:35

Not all of this is bad, by any means. On the contrary, we hope our next President will reform policing protocols, reform the justice system, take care of our environment, our people, and allow our children to have the same resources we did in schools to exercise their own talents and interests. Schooling taking away art classes and gym classes is something that has been discussed in the school systems for many years. This what my mind went to on point ten, and it is something that would be really devastating for kids, and will leave them lost in practicing some of their favorite skills, where they may not have the equipment to do so at home. The other items speak for themselves, these are things we have had national problems with for many years, and are looking for a President to address and ultimately, to fix.

In the end, these are issues that need to be addressed. However, it would make a lot more sense for Kanye to speak to the candidates that have a real chance of winning, and support one of them, like Cardi B, for instance. We cannot agree on everything, but to want genuine change, we must be more realistic.

If Kanye West cannot come to terms with this, maybe after loosing the election he will finally drop some new music, to hopefully gain some kind of win under his belt.
