It is officially the holiday season, so no one can yell at you for blasting Christmas music at any given moment. A trend some love and some hate, but either way, the music is always catchy. Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is a diamond hit that continues to break records twenty-seven years after it’s release. With that, others have tried their luck to make a Christmas hit that no one can deny. However, they seem to always fall flat of what we already know.

Many times, these new songs are partially comedic. Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah song is a classic. This year, Jimmy Fallon wishes to try his luck, as he taps into Megan Thee Stallion and Ariana Grande, to share their experiences of Christmas during the pandemic. At half a million views on YouTube in just a few hours, this one is going to cause some major traction on the upfront, but it honestly just horrible, but in good fun. It Was A… Masked Christmas features Jimmy Fallon and Ariana Grande singing about getting their booster shots this Christmas, while dancing together in massive snow suits and chunky sweaters. Megan Thee Stallion has a rap verse at the end, wearing a nurse Halloween costume suggesting she is ready to get back out there this holiday season.

The song pokes fun at the pandemic and the loneliness of the holidays last year. It seems that the major idea for the video, is to get people to go out and get their booster shots and vaccinations, so that they do not have to be lonely this holiday season.

The comment section are quite positive, of course. Ariana and Megan fans are certainly riders, but I think people are mostly impressed by Jimmy Fallon’s voice, which is actually quite nice. While I personally feel that the song is corny as anything, they are using a platform to have people go out and get vaccinated. A personal decision, sure, but this is a track that is sure to be stuck in your head all day after one good listen. You’re sure to catch yourself singing along and wondering if you can go off and schedule your appointment.
