Big Glo, Big Energy

12.5.22

Latto, Glorilla FTCU 12.2.22

Glo Rilla has been on top of the world lately, and it shows every time she shows up to work. This past weekend, she made herself three-for-three with a new single, and crushed her Funk Flex freestyle. But let’s take it a back a few steps.

On November 11th, Glo Rilla dropped her debut EP, Anyways Life’s Great, which sold 28,879 units it’s first week. This debuted her at the No. 10 spot for overall sales this week, just behind none other than legendary hip-hop artist, Nas, who sold 29,667 units. Glo Rilla was recently nominated for a Grammy for Best Hip-Hop Performance, after taking home the BET Award for Best New Hip-Hop Artist.

This new single is not even the first time that Glo Rilla has collaborated with Latto, as Latto had been featured on the F.N.F Remix. Now, in return Glo Rilla is a featured artist on Latto’s new single, FTCU. The song pays homage to Three 6 Mafia’s 1995, Tear Da Club Up. In a recent interview, Latto shared her love for Gangsta Boo and her statement that she has made for female hip-hop artists, especially from the south. So, it made sense that she was given credits on the Three 6 Mafia influenced song, and fans are hoping she hops on the remix with a full verse, soon.

The FTCU music video released on Friday as well and already has 900,000 views. The video starts with Glorilla calling Latto on the phone, telling her to get out of bed and hit the club with her. Glorilla can be seen with the biggest grin on her face throughout the entire video, even during her verse. The energy Glorilla brings, and the vibes between the two artists, are so infectious and beautiful, it seems to be a great match.

This was something that Funk Flex even mentioned when Glorilla came to the studio to drop off a Funk Flex Freestyle. He said the laid back rap is no longer cool, and the energy Big Glo brings to hip-hop is unmatched. The man did not lie. In Glorilla’s freestyle, she talked about being broke, to landing her deal with CMG. For those of you who questioned how good she is and if she writes her own rhymes, Glo not only cleared up the F.N.F situation, saying she wrote the song and Hittkid made the beat, but she also glided through her freestyle without stalls or stumbles. Her content was great, and the energy was there, as well.

Yo Gotti certainly has another star on our hands. Are you hoping she takes home the Grammy? What is your favorite Big Glo bar? Do you want a Latto x Glorilla collaboration album?
