Blockchain Music Service

Meek Mill

It has not been too long since Meek Mill suggested that him, Lil Baby, 21 Savage and Lil Durk would team up to generate their own music streaming service. The differentiator was about giving back more to the artists whom give their music to the platform, as well as the consumers whom are giving money to the streaming services. About a year later, Meek is trying something new with streaming his music, but in a different way: blockchain.

Blockchain, NFTs, Crypto currency, it seems to be all that’s being discussed in the hip-hop/streetwear/digital space. Many artists are purchasing their own NFTs and hoping to cash out big time. Some, are getting a bit more involved and looking for ways to create new and unique pieces of art forms that can be a part of the meta-world that everyone is currently hyper-focused on. Plenty have designed and created their own art, but Meek is taking this a step further. Meek previously stated the last installment of Dreamchasers will be released as an NFT. Now, he claims that he will produce and blockchain an entire mixtape which you will only be able to listen to with a eTh address (you have to have a crypto currency account) - and it is just about complete.

Obviously if you are a fan of Meek, you are going to want to hear the new mixtape. He previewed a snippet of one of the tracks, which features Lil Uzi Vert. The video shared seems to be mashups of Blue Notes II, but is sure to get anyone excited for more from the Philadelphia duo. Meek noted in the caption “we not tryna force you to hear it just providing the vibes.”

This could be a way for artists to get more people involved in the blockchain space, it could be ways to massively increase their wealth, and possibly even share with others, if this stuff all does cash out. Is the blockchain the next biggest streaming platform for music fans?
