My Life Was Never Eazy

The Game and Kanye West have released a new track together, which has become an instant viral hit, for several reasons. Both artists revealed the controversial cover art this past Thursday, and controversial to previous Kanye West releases, the track actually dropped at some point the following day. Not only did the duo receive an angry call from PETA, but they should also be expecting one from the Kardashians.
There is always a meaning to cover art for musicians. This one is pretty scary and intense, and actually caught the attention of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). The cover art depicts a monkey, skinned of his fur, though with a smile on his face and his hands in the air. PETA took to their Twitter page to share their thoughts on the usage of the monkey’s image, to it’s own dismay. They wrote:
The disturbing image of a skinned monkey that Kanye West shared serves as a reminder that there’s no real difference between humans & other animals.
Their lives aren’t easy when we abuse & kill them for food, experiments, clothing, or entertainment.
I do not think there is any denying that the image is disturbing, and that PETA is not wrong in their comments whatsoever. However, I actually think that is exactly what Ye and Game were going for when they chose this image to highlight a song where they discuss how difficult their lives have been.
The track is titled Eazy, while the chorus repeats “My Life Was Never Easy.” The Game has the first verse, and really did his thing. He name dropped up and down the verse - but in ways that were all completely punchlines. As always, he shows love to Dr. Dre and Aftermath the label, as well playing off the names of some of his other industry mates for bars throughout the track.
Head up faze, got a few concussion, yeah
Compton's amazed, Dr. Dre percussion
God, please grant my n*** eternal life, we need the beats
Aftermath where you fall asleep, you do not eat
…
Too many Problems, too many YGs
So many ties to dollar signs, easy to end up on E
The Game’s verse was crazy, but it is Kanye’s verse that has really made this thing go crazy. Not only does he talk about still having a relationship with Kim and her family, but mentions beating Pete Davidson’s ass, who is reportedly now dating Kim Kardashian.
We havin' the best divorce ever
If we go to court, we'll go to court together
Matter of fact, pick up your sis, we'll go to Kourt's together
God saved me from that crash
Just so I can beat Pete Davidson's ass (Who?)
And my new bitch bad
I know Illuminati mad
I was kind of feeling the first bar. Of course the world went crazy about the Pete Davidson threat, but sounds a bit corny to me. It could be Ye’s pettiness, but I sense a Kris Jenner bar just to keep all eyes on the Kardashian-Wests. Since the release, Travis Scott has been scene in the studio with Ye, and Ye has been seen at family birthday parties for his children, though there was allegedly some issues around this as well. Pete reportedly has yet to go to the Kardashian’s household, but it appears that Ye and the Kardashian’s are on civil terms.
PS - to already give the new girl a shout out in a viral song is a bit much, but Kim did call her a fan, so I expected the pettiness from Ye. Overall, The Game had a good new track but let Ye overpower him with his family drama.
