Couple Hits
4.13.22
They always say the strongest couples help each other reach their goals and dreams, right? How far would you go to make sure your partner accomplishes their goals? And, is there a right or wrong way to do so? On-again-off-again couple A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Ella Bands definitely seem to be on again as A Boogie drops new single and music video, giving Ella a whole feature on the track.
Couples doing music together is nothing new. We have see Jay and B, Nicki and Meek back way, Megan Thee Stallion and Moneybagg Yo way back when. It has been done over and over and is always a fun little record. What is making this one stand out more than the rest, is that Ella Bands does not really have a career in the industry. If you look up her music on Apple, she only has two singles, one of them being Playa, with A Boogie, and a second that was just released this February.
A Boogie and Ella have two beautiful children together, and is just a couple that you really want to see work out. It is clear that Artist would do anything for her, and even gave her a whole feature on his latest single. The hit instantly went viral on TikTok, for Ella’s verse, in particular.
I know they feel a way, I don't wanna play no games
You buy me watches, I'll buy you chains
Treat me right, I'll do the same
I hate your player ways but I like expensive things
Show me that I'm my favorite, show me that I'm your favorite
However, on April 1st, A Boogie released the single, alongside a second version, featuring H.E.R., replacing Ella’s verse. It was a bit of an interesting move, where some may ask if he felt Ella’s version was not good enough. Or vice versa, how H.E.R. felt knowing that her feature may be overlooked by the couple who recreated the same song.
H.E.R. is an award-winning artists with fans across the world for her music. Naturally, this would be a wild hit, using the “I don’t want to be a player no more” Big Pun reference and sample. If you do look at the numbers, currently on YouTube the Official Audio video for the H.E.R version has 169,000 views, while the Official Music Video for the Ella Bands version has reached over 3,300,000 views.
Naturally a music video would receive more views than just the audio, then you have that interest factor of, is she a true singer? We would have to wait to see how all the numbers pull through from all streaming platforms, but the difference is currently wild right now.
I think it is fantastic that A Boogie is putting Ella on to being her own artist. Maybe she’ll get her own record next time.
