Eminem’s Artist Agreement

8.8.23

Eminem, EZ Mil, Dr Dre

There are many artists who have gone onto create their own label, sign new artists, and act as a mentee to those rising stars. While the label owner may be still managing their own careers, it takes a lot to further give the attention needed to new artists who have expectations of new heights with label cosign. Eminem is one who has a certain roll out with his new artists, that will forever impact the artists career as a musician.

Yo Gotti is one label manager that seems to never miss with his artists. Not only does his CMG social channels promote the new single of each and every artist, but so does he. He supports, shares, comments, and definitely does the work behind the scenes as well to ensure the music gets picked up in all the right places.

Eminem is someone who, as an artist, is looked at, to many, as one of the greatest hip-hop artists there is. When it comes to his label artists, like Skylar Grey, GRIP and Westside Boogie, it has been a long time since an artist has really popped off in a way, compared to your Glo Rilla or Moneybagg Yo. However, he has a really special intro to the world formula that will remain memorable for his artists forever.

A record with Eminem? Not everyone can say that. And getting one today? Chances are typically slim. When Eminem signed GRIP in 2021, they dropped Walkthrough, as a collab single, which would kick things off prior to his debut project, I Died for This!? He did the same for Westside Boogie on Rainy Days, which has over 5,000,000 views on YouTube. Eminem appeared on Conway the Machine’s Bang, and as we know has plenty of songs with Skylar Grey, 50 Cent, D12 and other previous Shady Record artists.

An Eminem feature remains significant to add to your catalog, and Eminem quicks things off quick with new artist, EZ Mil. On July 26th, Eminem announced signing EZ Mil to a three way deal with Shady Records, Interscope and Aftermath. With this three-way deal, EZ Mil is the first artist to sign with these three identities since 50 Cent did in 2002. If that is not a sign that Eminem and Dr. Dre are ready to put this kid to work, Eminem did a verse on EZ Mil’s new single, Realest, and he went in.

The track on EZ Mil’s YouTube channel has over 1,600,000 plays in less than a week. EZ Mil has one project left that will release under his current label, Virgin Music, then will transform to full working between Eminem and Dr Dre’s labels. One the new single, Eminem calls out old beef with Melle Mel, and makes punchlines that many are suggesting claps back at previous bars from The Game. No matter if you are a fan of this or not, it is sure to get the people talking, and therefore, EZ Mil’s name in the mix.

There seems to be a lot riding on the singing of EZ Mil, and it will be interesting to see the strategies for building him up from here. Is hopping on the debut song of your new artist the way to go as a label manager to kick start their career?
