G-Eazy x Jack Harlow ‘Moana’ Release: 4.29.20

Someone that might not always be on your drop radar, G-Eazy. Sure he has some hits and some great features, but we’re not waiting on him to drop an album or really intrigued to see what he is going to say next. Interestingly enough, I would say that he is one of the most consistent music releasers today, you just might miss it if you’re not paying attention.

Just in the past few weeks, G-Eazy has put out the following tracks:

2 Seater with visual FT YBN Nahmir, Offset

Still Be Friends with visual FT Tyga, Tory Lanez

Who You Loving with visual FT Dream Doll, Rahky

Cruel Intentions with visual FT Delacey

Lotto Remix FT Joyner Lucas, Yandel

The End with visual FT Kossi

Angel Cry with visual FT Devon Baldwin

Moana with visual FT Jack Harlow

On top of dropping tons of hit singles, with visuals for almost all, G has also been on multiple magazine covers, and has recently dropped ‘The Process’ YouTube series. The series will give us some behind the scenes action of G-Eazy working over the past year. I’ll write a follow up to this once I complete the series, but it should be interesting. We can already imagine the work ethic he has, dropping three hits with visuals; today.

I’ve already watched G-Eazy’s ‘Rapture’ episode, where I learned a lot about him. You learn he gets a bit anxious in public and being swarmed by fans, has to be difficult when you’re famous. Also, that E-40 basically mentored him growing up in the hip-hop game. Everything I learned about him put who he is into perspective for me, and I gained a lot of respect for him after watching this. I am sure ‘The Process’ series will shed some more light on his writing and performing process, which will be interesting to see.

There is a clear passion for music, and also potentially an escape. G-Eazy has talented in his voice, good presence, performing skills, etc. The content that he talks about in his music, varies. One of the songs he released today was ‘Angel Cry.’ This song was a sequel six years later to ‘Let’s Get Lost’ with Devon Baldwin. This song is deep, it’s sad, but the vocals and storytelling are beautiful. The next song, ‘The End’, is about the world coming to end, but if doing so, G and Kossi are trying to get their girl one more time before it’s over. The visuals are in black and white, the tone of the visuals are just a bit eery, as if the world were to be coming to a close, but G’s verse is upbeat and quite seductive. Finally, Moana with Jack Harlow is the uplifting light of them all. G manages to take the corona virus and turn it into something fun to watch. The visuals include pieced together FaceTime calls with G-Eazy, Jack Harlow and tons of other rappers they’ve chatted with, such as Snoop Dogg, Diddy and so many more. The beat is fun, the words are catchy, and this is just radio-hit G-Eazy right here.

So, you get a lot of versatility with this man, and he is consistent. We had this with Gucci Mane once upon a time, but the consistent hits have really died now. Lil Uzi Vert thinks he has it, but you cannot just say you have hits, and not drop them. Keeping us waiting and wondering 24/7, does not count as consistently dropping music. Whether or not you are a G-Eazy fan, you have to respect the work ethic.
