Hints of a Comeback

Meek Mill

Without consistency in music, words will spiral that the artist has “fallen off,” no matter how long they have been around and what kind of impact they have had. Meek Mill has been a legend in Philadelphia, and hip-hop in general for over a decade now, but the past could of years, people started to question the longevity and popularity of the artist. For fans, take this as a hint that the ultimate comeback is near.

Over the 4th of July weekend, Mike Rubin threw his annual 4th of July party, which consisted of all of your favorite hip-hop artists in attendance. Meek Mill was one of the handful of artists who actually performed at the party for guests. Everyone was posting about the event and seemed like an amazing time. Maybe it was performing in front of friends. Perhaps he took some advice from Mike Rubin at some point that night. But, Meek Mill shared on Twitter recently that something hit him, to focus on that drive once again.

Meek’s last project was Expensive Pain, released on the first of October, 2021. The album debuted No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart with selling equivalent to 95,000 album units. Sounds pretty good, right? Well, fans clowned on him because the album prior, Championships' did 229,000 units. Certainly something difficult to swallow, especially with how the units are recorded and determined, and that people have so much to say about numbers that do not directly correlate to the quality of the project. Needless to say, Meek has been quiet since then. But we hope his latest update means he is ready to drop some new music.

Over this past weekend, Meek Mill shared a Tweet that stated:

“I had to re make myself hungry again while having it lol it was hard but it happened!”

On top of the constant criticism, there also is the feeling of “I’m okay, I can take a day off, I have what I need.” But that attitude does not work forever. Meek Mill may have gotten comfortable with where he was at, and realized he still needs to put in the work to continue living the life that he worked so hard for himself to create. This tweet was followed up by requesting beats, so it sounds like Meek is ready to get right back into the studio.

Are you ready for new Meek Mill? How long is too long to go without releasing new music?
