I Never Liked You

Future I Never Liked You 4.29.22

Future recently scored the cover of GQ Magazine, labeling himself the greatest rapper alive. While that stirred some conversation in itself, he also used this moment to announce the title of his upcoming album, which is due to release this upcoming Friday, April 29th.

Last week, Future hinted at a new album with a release date, but the album was TBD. It is always nice to know that something is coming, but the title gives it meaning, and purpose, allowing us to start guessing what some of the content may sound like. Though, you could have probably guessed before hearing the album title that there would be some pettiness sprinkled throughout the project, as per usual.

Since leaking the April 29th date, Future has shared four posts from a GQ photoshoot, including an image of his magazine cover, titled “The Best Rapper Alive.” Some people do truly believe this, while I find it to be a bit outlandish. I will say that he started a new trend in music. It was a similar time that Future and Young Thug blew up, creating a demand for the SoundCloud era. They should not be considered SoundCloud rappers, but they started this new style which ultimately lead to the era with artists trying different sounds and autotunes.

The Best Rapper Alive to me, has a bit more to say than Future. Nonetheless, his success is worthy to be received. Landing a cover of a magazine as large scaled as GQ typically comes with some announcements, and Future has finally shared the title to his upcoming album: I Never Liked You.

It is just that pettiness with a touch of funniness that Future uses throughout his catch phrases, that make him so interesting and viral-worthy. From the notorious I’m Good Love, Enjoy text message, to Tell Steve Harvey, I don’t want her. Future is a menace, and whoever has let themselves get involved with this man better look after themselves this Friday when the new album releases.

Future’s last released a new single with South Side and Travis Scott this past Friday. This could be the first single from the upcoming album. Not too much else on an opinion here on the project, other than I am sure there will be some summer smashes on the project. Still, not even in my Top 10, let alone best rapper alive. All love, though!
