Let the Kids be the Kids

Let the kids, be the kids. A child’s favorite saying, until it is to their demise. The younger generation of hip-hop artists today do not tend to beef any less than those who were in the streets at their age. However, the youngins’ beef may seem a bit more comical, or petty. Two young female artists go head-to-head and it is all because of their elders. Their parents, in fact.

Coi Leray is currently at the top of her game. Something you may not have thought you’d say a year ago, but she truly is making moves in the right direction. Her performing has improved, she made XXL Freshman class, she has all the right features and just dropped her debut album. Still, because of who she is, where she comes from, and how she too strays the path of what we are used to, people tend judge.

Where does she come from? Coi is the daughter of Benzino, known for being petty and stirring up issues within the industry, sometimes even with his own daughter. Benzino has a history of beef with Eminem and 50 Cent, and 50 has recently had some words for Benzino. It was 50 Cent trolling Benzino, telling him he was going to get Coi on Starz and making other crude remarks, that sparked an additional, outside, beef.

Actress, business women, artist, reality television star and entrepreneur, Tami Roman, stepped into The Shade Room to comment on the interaction between 50 and Benzino. She made a sarcastic remark, to which a fan brought up her own children. Tami has two daughters, whom do have their own careers, but tend to stay under the radar, which is exactly how Tami responded to the fan. Here you guys, is where things get juicy.

Coi Leray saw Tami Roman getting involved in her father and her’s relationship on social media, to which she did not take well. She essentially told Tami to mind her business, and that her children should be embarrassed of their mother. It just so happens that one of Tami’s daughter’s, Jazz Anderson, is a hip-hop artist herself. In record timing, Jazz dropped a diss track, aimed at Coi.

Jazz dropped a diss track, and titled it the Blick Blick Freestyle. Yes, she absolutely used the beat for Coi’s hit single with Nicki Minaj. Yes, she copied her flow that they both used in the original track. Yes, she came for her looks, her music, her ex-boyfriend, and her relationship with her dad.

This was certainly a bit of a surprise, coming from Jazz after her mother just said they mind their business, which, to my knowledge, she does. But when you think about it, it could have been an extremely good move for her, to get her name out there a bit more. Jazz has talent. Coi has the attention. I think Jazz was smart to do this, but she went a little too hard on Coi for my liking.

Is there really family drama, or was this a business move by the Roman ladies?
