Kodak Black’s Misfire

Kodak Black

Kodak Black

Kodak Black has been a walking man of trouble since arising to the scene for his hit single No Flockin’ back in 2014. Since then, he has had a number of hit records, including criminal records. In 2019, Kodak Black was convicted on weapon possessions, and sentenced to almost four years in prison. Luckily for Kodak, he received a Pardon from the former President, and is now technically a walking free man. However, you can only be as free as your safety and freedom allows. Unfortunately for the Roll In Peace, rapper, his days are far less than peaceful. An incident over this past week should have him a bit rattled, but for some reason the artist seems unfazed. Which is more dangerous? You be the judge.

Since Kodak has been released from prison on his pardon from the former President, his time as a free man has not been completely smooth sailing. About a month ago, YNW Melly, whom is currently still doing time behind bars, released a song with Kodak Black as the feature on the track. Kodak apparently did not like the way the song sounded, and released a number of Tweets suggesting there was bad editing done on the track and he wanted, basically a redo. YNW Melly was quick to say that his team would fix it, clearly not wanting any issues, and to have both parties be happy with what should have realistically been a huge hit for fans of this new wave on hip-hop talent from Florida.

On top of this little mishap, Kodak has seemingly been picking fights with other artists. He claims that Megan Thee Stallion got famous off of using his line “Driving the Boat.” Megan The Stallion was known for pouring people shots straight from the bottle, calling it “driving the boat.” This line was used by Kodak Black in a comedic way years prior, but it really did not even seem like he knew what was going on. Kodak was seen on the back of the boat in a life vest, and without any sense of excitement or emotion, he said “Let me drive the boat.” I am not sure if Megan took this directly from Kodak. But she could have thought it was funny and put her own twist on it.

Additionally, is the whole “money spread” and “adlibs” argument. Kodak states that he was the first to start many trends, and has some sort of evidence to back it up. However, Kodak and Pooh Shiesty got into it online, when Shiesty suggested that he “lost all respect” for Kodak for suggesting that he was the first to do these things, over someone else. What is crazy about the whole beef, other than it being immensely unimportant, is that Shiesty had named Kodak Black one of his favorite rappers, just a few days prior. The two went back and forth, and many were worried that this could get ugly. Each artist having a bit of a tricky past.

Over the weekend, it seems that someone may have been out to get Kodak Black. It was around 3AM after a show in Florida, that Kodak Black and his entourage were seemingly being followed by a number of vehicles. Kodak and his team allegedly went to a McDonald’s, where the following cars had blocked the exit ways, and shot at the vehicle. While Kodak Black was unharmed, one of his bodyguards was hit with one of the shots in his leg and is said to have undergone surgery last night.

Kodak was taken away from the scene unharmed, but you would think that he would be shaken from the scene, knowing people in his camp were hurt. However, he has been posting on social media almost as if the stunt was a joke. After dropping a new music video on Easter with a fun, spring colored Lamborghini Truck, Kodak Black shared the truck being pulled onto what seemed to be a tow truck lift. He captioned the image “this is what you post to shoot at.” Almost as if he was taunting the shooter for missing Kodak, in his beaming bright new truck.

On top of Kodak taking it for a joke, it seems like the opps are taking it this way, as well. Word about the incident spread early Monday morning. It was later that day that Pooh Shiesty posted a photo in a convenient store holding large piles of cash. He captioned the photo “Anybody That Got Smoke With Me Got Shot At Or They Tried To Fix It.” In a comment that was since deleted, DJ Akademiks caught Kodak responding to the post. Kodak wrote “I can relate Lil Bra I can relate.”

I do not think this is Pooh Shiesty suggesting someone from his camp was involved in the shooting, but I do think he is suggesting that he has priority over Kodak Black, after finding out what had happened to him. For Kodak to respond, I am not sure if he is realizing what is going on, and attempting the later, to fix the beef, or simply being sly that he is paying attention to his surroundings and what the world is saying. Either way, this feels dangerous. Hopefully Kodak’s body guard heals up fast, and hopefully these two can keep their beef to the music.
