Migos Status Check

5.19.22

Unc and Phew Hotel Lobby 5.20.22

It seems like at some point in time, everyone’s favorite band or group, breaks up and goes on their own, separate paths. Though heartbreaking, it is quite always bound to happen. The Migos have previously sparked rumors about potential break ups, but have managed to remain strong. That is, until now.

Migos may have seemed if they were on the verge of breaking up before. They have all done their own projects, there has been a fair share of favoritism, and if we’re being honest, Culture II and III were not great. However, the crew has managed to stick together over the years, and self-proclaims themselves to be the “Greatest Group in the World.”

In the past twenty hours, Quavo and Takeoff have previewed new music due to release this Friday. Each shared single cover artwork, and a clip from a music video. Where is Offset you ask? That is a good question. It appears that Offset unfollowed both Quavo and Takeoff. Quavo also unfollowed Offset. So, there appears to be some trouble in the trio.

Not only are group members being unfollowed at the notice of new music only consisting of two out of three group members, Quavo and Takeoff seem to present new names for the single release. In the captions of the posts, along with the credits in the music video clip, Quavo and Takeoff are referenced as Unc and Phew. Quavo is allegedly Takeoff’s uncle, so abbreviations for uncle and nephew sort of make sense here.

It is not like Offset is not family here, so something fishy is going on. Is this the end of the Migos? Are Quavo and Takeoff trying a duo thing instead? Are they still up for Greatest Group in the World after this move?
