Perjury
8.2.21
A little over a week ago, Tory Lanez released his Funk Flex Hot 97 Freestyle, that he thought, was relatively untouchable. While touching on topics like being an independent artist and still claiming his innocence in the Megan drama, Tory feels like he is untouchable at this moment in his career. However, it was Cassidy who called out Tory Lanez for stealing Cassidy’s flow and lyrics within the freestyle, and now Cass has something else to say.
Cassidy is well known for being a battle rapper, so it when it comes to writing diss tracks, the man is no stranger to the game. He knows how to battle rap, make hit songs, and pay attention to certain rhyme schemes throughout his lyrical process. Yesterday, Cassidy dropped a new track titled Perjury, which he claims Tory Lanez has done by stating that he was paying homage to Cassidy in his rhymes, while Cass feels he was stealing lyrics, beats, and his flow.
Cassidy shared the track on YouTube yesterday mid-morning, and so far the video has seen just about 120,000 views on his page alone. The artwork for the video, appears to be a photo of Tory Lanez with a pretty rough haircut shot, as if he was loosing the hair on the top of his head, and the sides were quite long and untamed. Not the best photo of the Quarantine Radio man himself.
The track is about four minutes long, and gets a bit intense. Cassidy has never held back telling stories from his days in the streets, and tells Tory to pray that there is a place in heaven for him. He states Tory has never payed homage, has been stealing bars all his life, and even calls him a b*** for “shooting a chick in the foot” and uses a Megan Thee Stallion voice over in his next bar. Now even Cassidy is bringing back the drama that Tory is trying to be freed from, as he continues to mention certain parts of the story throughout the remainder of track, including how Tory allegedly paid off Megan’s best friend to be on his side of the story.
It gets to a point where I honestly think Tory Lanez may want to lay low for a bit, when Cass goes into detail about sending out a hit for his life, as he continues to call stealing his bars perjury. I will say, I had to laugh out loud when Cassidy called his son “bigger than Tory.” Cassidy is about 5’9, so he is not the largest guy. However, the world never got over Tory Lanez’s police report stating he was just 5’3.
While Cassidy definitely did not hold back, some people are hating on the track. There are a few factors to why this may be. Obviously, Tory Lanez is more relevant in music during this time, as Cassidy was really in his prime in the early 2000s. He is a bit older to many people, so they may not be as familiar, and going to side with Tory. Even if they are familiar, many have given Cassidy the L on his last few rap battles he has been a part of, so many are thinking that he just needs to let it go and hang up the mic.
The track starts out a bit slow, and I am sure he has used the flow before, but all I can think of is Cassidy’s performance on Wild N Out Season 15, and he used the same flow with similar bars. After the first few bars, he started going in, but even at the end said a few questionable things like the lines:
You on some crazy shit you must be on a lace front
I got a street sweeper this case slayer if you can’t stunt
Boy you look like a premature dinosaur
Is it cool that he was able to rhyme premature and dinosaur? Or is it just weird because what in the world does that mean? I kind of see it though…
No word from Tory yet on the new diss track, it appears he is gearing up to release another new song. Will this begin a new war? We shall see.
