Pretty B.I.T.C.H Music

6.30.22

I have been searching for answers for months, and finally, we have a somewhat of a clue. Saweetie was supposed to drop her debut album, Pretty B.I.T.C.H Music a year ago, but has continued to delay. On almost the album release date anniversary to the day, she shares a message to fans with just what is going on.

Last year, Saweetie blew up as one of my the most popular female hip-hop artists in the game. Every singles she released seemed to keep getting more and more hype and interest. Though her breakup with Quavo did but a damper on their collaborative potential, it did not stop Saweetie from getting in her bag by any means necessary.

While it has been some time since we have received new music from Saweetie, other than her new single with Muni Long, the endorsements continue to swarm in. She started with her McDonald’s Meal, a perfect endorsement for an artist known for loving her food. Next up, she was named the first ever Global Cultural Consultant of the brand, Champion. Most recently, she has partnered up with Crocs to release her own ‘Icy Jibbitz™’, to keep your Crocs on froze. Not to mention, Saweetie’s multiple magazine cover issues, include Glamour Magazine’s May ‘22 edition.

So, Saweetie is still getting all these deals - is she still relevant and making music? When is the album coming? Well Icy Gang, just last night Saweetie shared a powerful message for her followers, in regards to just that. Her message reads:

Dear Icy Family,

The past couple of years have been a growing experience for me as an artists, human, but more importantly a WOMAN. I have realized my purpose with the platform God has given me which is why I have taken my time with releasing music this time around. Through hours of self-reflection I have realized that Pretty B.I.T.C.H Music is not an album, it’s a movement. It’s a culture. It’s language. It’s a lifestyle. We not rushing art, we taking our time! This ain’t no microwave sh**! It’s baking and will definitely be worth the taste.

Nothing like some food word-play from Saweetie at the end of her message. We know that she has not forgotten about us, and the album should be coming at some point in time. It is likely Saweetie’s massive and abrupt blow up made her nervous to drop the album without all hits. This is something she has discussed in previous interviews, asking herself the question, is it even possible to top Best Friend? Or Icy Chain? Or Tap In? Or My Type?

Exact release date is still unknown. But if there is one thing we know, when it does drop, Saweetie is coming with everything she’s got.
