50 Cent Reaches New Record

7.5.22

50 Cent has just reached a new record for his music video for hit single, In Da Club. The official music video has surpassed over 1,500,000,000 streams on YouTube, making this video the most streamed hip-hop music video from the 2000s. While this is quite the accomplish, of course 50 still has some things to say about his new record-breaking status.

It has never been like 50 Cent to hold back his thoughts, so of course when he found out about his new record, he had some things to say. The single, In Da Club, was released in 2003. However, the YouTube streams are being counted from 2009 and onward, so when you think about it, the majority of the plays that he would have received one way or another from when this song was really relevant, are not even being counted here.

On top of this, with the magnitude of this single and 50’s career, one may think he deserved the title of Best New Artist at the Grammy’s. However, that day never came. 50 made it clear he is still not happy about getting snubbed at the Grammy’s by not winning best new artist, while he was taking hip-hop by storm, and would go on to be one of the most memorable names in the industry.

Here are a few other hip-hop videos that have surpassed 1,000,000,000 views on YouTube, all coming well into the 2000s, other than Nelly who dropped in 2002.

Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna (2.4B Views)

Future - Life Is Good ft. Drake (2B Views)

Nelly - Dilemma ft. Kelly Rowland (1.2B Views)

Cardi B - Bodak Yellow (1B Views)

Do the award shows owe 50 an apology for getting it wrong all those years back?
