Tattle or Troll
9.1.20
Whether we like it or not, Tekashi 6ix9ine is dropping a new album on Friday, and he is calling it Tattle Tales. In every sort of the matter, 6ix9ine has managed to make a mockery out of his case and snitching situation. Embracing your flaws, or laughing together when they laugh at you is one thing, but 6ix9ine is just trying his hardest to make everyone mad. This potential track list, will get the people even angrier.
The announcement of the album came when 6ix9ine was strolling through the streets of Chicago. Rappers like Lil Durk, Lil Reese and King Von were not happy that he was walking through their block, and had some words for the rainbow hair artist. 6ix9ine responded with a dirty video of Lil Reese getting jumped (look it up for more), and he took flowers to “pay his respect” on the block where Lil Durk’s cousin was killed. While the back and forth is heavy, Durk said he was done after 6ix9ine’s camp said they would give him three million dollars if he would continue the beef. Anything for a dollar, but Durk was not buying it.
Now, 6ix9ine could either be looking for something new to continue the hype for this album, or some people are going to be upset. Just a few weeks ago, Nicki Minaj released a song with Tekashi 6ix9ine. Though not their first project together, many questions Nicki and why she would record with a snitch, especially knowing her family’s history with the law, and who she is to the hip-hop industry. Nicki was unfazed by noise, and may have converted a friend to follow suit, and just get in their bag by any means necessary.
A potential track list for Tattle Tales has leaked. On this leaked track list, Tekashi 6ix9ine has features from Akon, NBA Youngboy, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion. Of course, people are shocked to see that Megan Thee Stallion would be featured on the track with rat of hip-hop. It looks like if this collab were to be true, Nicki Minaj would have her second feature on this track as well.
Rumors say that a producer of Megan’s debunked the rumors. However, the tweet just shows someone asking if the track list is real, and a response saying “this is fake.” This is not specific enough for me to believe someone made this up. Producers debunk fake track lists all the time, that end up being real. It is a way to bat off any real leaks or anticipated excitement around the project before it actually drops. Musicians loose money this way, and it happens so often, shutting down fake track lists have grown to be a defense mechanism in today’s age. Just a few months ago when Juice WRLD dropped his posthumous album, the track list leaked, and Bibby said it was fake. However, it was real, they just added a few songs, which was also announced prior to them dropping it.
Breaking down this list, it could be real. The number of the tracks do line up, and the order of the already released singles. Locked Up 2 with Akon is no surprise, because we saw them recorded this in the studio. I am not overly surprised by the Ozuna and Bad Bunny feature, either. 6ix9ine did say he was working on a Spanish album, so who else would you want on the track? To these guys, I do not think they are too worried about the drama America holds. Honestly, I am mostly surprised about the NBA Youngboy track, but he has just been working with everyone, including Nicki Minaj, so maybe she had a bigger hand in this album than we think.
So basically, I think this could be real. Nicki and Megan have obviously created Hot Girl Summer in the past, and I think Nicki wanted more with her after the success of WAP. I do not know about the timelines of this project, but seems fair. Megan has the same kind of attitude that she does not bow down or take commands from anyone, so I am sure she would go for this gig with Nicki and a bag behind her.
What would be crazy, is if Tekashi 6ix9ine adds on to this album. He also shared an Instagram story asking if he should add a Tory Lanez song to his album. The song is already complete and has been cleared, and he claims it is a hit. On the Instagram story, 6ix9ine asked his fans if it would be messed up for him to add the song to his track list. Ultimately, the fans said to add it. The tactic of dropping track lists then adding songs has seemingly become just as much of a thing as deluxe albums, so this could happen.
I do not really think that Megan would feel any type of way about him being on the album, but I do think she will be annoyed with the fact that he is making it a big deal. 6ix9ine could be using this as an excuse to why the Megan verse is removed, if she winds up missing from the album. However, I am not sold this fake news.
If Megan Thee Stallion does collaborate with 6ix9ine, I think the verdict will be similar to Nicki. People will question it at first, then get over it within three days. However, this is bold for Megan. She may be the hottest thing on the block right now, but she has yet to be defined as the greatest female rapper of all time, like Nicki Minaj and many before her. We will see how the longevity of her career evolves, and if there is any truth to this questionable collaboration.
