A$AP Mob

What did seem like the most solid group is currently dealing with a bit of trouble in paradise. The A$AP Mob is a collective of talents, from hip-hop artists, to fashion designers, engineers and more. These guys all met each other on the streets with a passion for fashion (literally) and became what is probably the most dynamic collective we know in hip-hop. Unfortunately, these things tend to come crashing down, and usually lead to someone going solo and failing. Hopefully we can salvage this one.

A$AP Rocky is the leader of the bunch. He made a huge break in hip-hop, basically renovated the fashion game in the hip-hop industry, and even scored himself an interesting sneaker deal, with Under Armour. Besides Rocky, the other everyone knows is A$AP Ferg. He has gone on tour with G-Eazy, done multiple collaborations with Nicki Minaj, and overall is a super successful musician himself.

There are a handful of other guys whom are rappers, that are not as big in the lime light. You have A$AP Nast, A$AP Addie, A$AP Twelvyy, A$AP Ant, and many more. Bari was a fashion designer from the collection, who had his own Nike collab. He got in trouble with the law, for an apparent sexual harassment case. Yams passed sadly in 2015, and first lady of the crew, Chynna Rogers sadly lost her life as well at the beginning of this quarantine. This is to say that, no matter what has gone down over the years, these guys have rode for their family at all. No matter where they are in life, they’ve supported each other.

This afternoon, A$AP Illz had a lot to say on Instagram, dubbing A$AP Ferg out of the Mob. Illz is a DJ, and a fashion designer. In the past, he has had major deals with brands like  DKNY and Stussy. However if you do not pay attention to the group super close, you may not know who exactly he is, or why he would be aloud to dismiss Ferg from the collective, one of the top dogs with the name.

A$AP Illz posted an extremely long slew of stories with text and images claiming his case. Allegedly, the Trap Lord was cancelled because he songs are “dumb trash, mr anthem can’t get it right.” This could very well be because of his recent mainstream hits. Move Your Hips with Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO, kind of questionable if you are an OG Rap Star (or should I say Trap Lord). Though, these guys are best friends with Playboi Carti so the SoundCloud wave should not be new to them. There was also the No Ceilings song with Lil Wayne and Jay Gwuapo. I suppose he could be mad he took one of Wayne’s previously recorded hits to make a new one, instead of finding his own. Or, perhaps he is just jealous of the hype he is receiving. If we are being honest, A$AP Rocky has been quiet in the music world for quite a bit, as well. Earlier this year, he teased a new album, All Smiles, but still no word on an actual release.

As we continue, things definitely are not all smiles for the A$AP crew. Illz shares a text conversation with Ferg asking him to call and chat. It looks like someone may have blocked the other, as green texts appear. When Illz says Ferg played himself, then quotes “you mans try to pick your brain and steal not to be loyal and real” it seems as though A$AP Ferg might have taken an idea of Illz’ and ran with it.

Illz goes on to say that he put Ferg on to fashion, and gave him the pages of his book to steal from. While some are questioning who Illz is to do this to Ferg, others are confirming that Illz was the one who started it all. Since the heated story exchange, which is still super fresh as we speak, A$AP Bari did speak out on the situation. He confirms, “he said what he said. A$AP Illz started ASAP, so if it was not for him, there would be no ASAP.”

The verdict has been determined and it seems like there is still an A$AP Mob, but Ferg has been released. We will see where things progress from here. Will others from the group comment on the situation? Does Rocky drop with Ferg still on the album? Does Ferg drop the A$AP from his Instagram handle? Where will the collective really go from here?

Times like these we should be sticking together. But again, nothing lasts forever. The YBN crew recently broke up as well. YBN Cordae and YBN Almighty Jay have chosen to left the group. Cordae has officially dropped the YBN from his Instagram handle. YBN Nahmir has been dropping tons of music, clearly upset by the situation, but still rocking his acronym.
