Saweetie, Jack Harlow BET Awards 2021

You know when you go to a wild party, and people are still talking about it days later? Maybe you yourself are still trying to hangout with that girl you met in the bathroom, or see if that connection you made with the guy at the bar was legit. Well, it surely seems like the energy from this past weekend’s BET Awards is still moving strong. People are still talking, and trying to make moves. Here is a recap of a few major moments we are still here for.

Jazmine Sullivan shoots her shot at Megan Thee Stallion for a feature. Now, doing it in Megan’s comments is a bit weird to me, but I mostly think she was trying to be comical about her approach. No one should be discrediting Jazmine Sullivan for her work. She took home two BET Awards this year, one for Best Female Pop/R&B Artist, and one for Album of the Year. Some of her hit songs include Tragic, Pick Up Your Feelings, and The Other Side.

What everyone has picked up on, was Jazmine’s comment to one of Megan Thee Stallion’s recent Instagram posts. Megan posted a photo of herself in a white suit jacket, a funky ear piece, in an orange, ornate room with a Hot Girl logo on the table ahead of her. This image was from her CashApp sponsorship shoot, where she has been giving $10 in stocks to her followers, up to $1,000,000. In the comments, Jazmine wrote:

MEG LETS DO A SONGGGG. I can’t dance, my knees are bad but I can sing sometimes! Lessgoo where my old knee heauxs at???

So, I think Jazmine is hysterical for this. But if you ask me, I am not sure Megan can do this. Jazmine sings and her vocals are amazing. Megan is talented, but she slipped up when she tries to go too far off the tracks from what she is good at. I thought her verse on the Ariana Grande song was weird. When she switched the flow up to sing on her new Lil Baby track, it seemed to be a bit difficult for her. So, I am not sure the collab makes the most sense for Megan. However, she is definitely a lady for the ladies, so I can see her giving it her all.

Not the mention, Megan Thee Stallion had also reportedly shared a kiss with Yung Miami from the City Girls in a BET Awards After Party. Megan had previously tweeted that she has a crush, and wants to date Yung Miami. After this news broke, perhaps we have a Megan x City girls collab in our near future.

Next up, the infamous Saweetie and Jack Harlow interaction. Saweeite was taking an interview with The Shade Room, when Jack Harlow walked by, and decided to approach her. He grabbed her hand and introduced himself, to which she replied “I know.” Saweetie said she was caught off guard and tried to make him embarrassed by calling out that he was shaking.

When Jack Harlow decided to step into The Shade Room, he said it was just “a friend vibe.” Though, the Internet is not buying it whatsoever. The video, as well an image of the two staring into each others eyes as they pass has gone viral. Many are giving Jack his props, while others are questioning if it is simply too soon after Saweetie’s breakup to try to slide.

Either way, the ladies saw how smooth Jack acted, and are running to his DMs. Including Hi My Names Tee from Wild N’ Out, who slid in his DMs, then posted it for the world to see. Likely to extend her comedic reputation, but I love that for her.

Others like Benzino you would think are excited after his daughter’s Red Carpet performance. Instead, he is coming for the BET Awards because Lil Nas X’s performance made him uncomfortable. Boo hoo, Benzino, it is 2021.

Finally, some are asking BET to pay a bit more attention to what is going on in the world, and using their platform to help in any ways they can. Specifically, giving awards to Black Creators for ‘Best Dance Moves’ on TikTok. Currently, Black creators on TikTok are boycotting coming up with new dances, as they are being less recognized when it comes to sponsored deals, verified accounts, and the recognition they deserve as creators coming up with all the hottest new trends.

So, what will come of the events from this night? A Jazmine Sullivan and Megan Thee Stallion collab? Saweetie and Jack Harlow on a date? New categories next year? I suppose we will have to stay tuned to find out!
