The Boss Escape

Rick Ross, 85 South

When you declare yourself the boss of pretty much everything, you call your own shots. Whether that be what interviews you accept to partake in, and when you decide that it is over. That is precisely what Rick Ross did during his press tour for the new album, Richer Than I’ve Ever Been, as he does the dash mid interview with the 85 South crew.

Rick Ross dropped a new album last Friday, Richer Than I’ve Ever Been. While much anticipated for it to drop, the album is projected just 30,000 album sales week one, which is his lowest opening week to date. It is a busy time of year and nowadays many albums take a few weeks to catch on. Rick Ross will be fine, but the press tours are a huge part of reminding people to check out the new music. 85 South is known for their comedy and entertainment, but this interview went viral for what Ross did. He bailed in the middle of the interview, without telling anybody.

85 South consists of Chico Bean, Karlos Miller, and DC Young Fly. Three super fun and hilariously entertaining guys well known in the hip-hop cultural industry. As they began to chat with Rick Ross, it was seemingly all fun and positive vibes. They all congratulated Ross on the new album, they were laughing and joking, spoke about his family business with Wing Stop - and even purchased Wing Stop to have on site during the interview.

You can view the whole interview on YouTube, which lasts about two hours long. Around the 37 minute park, Rick Ross said he was going to get up to use the restroom, and take off his jacket. The 85 South crew entertained themselves in song for about ten minutes until they received word that Rick Ross had left the building, and would not be returning.

All three were in shock of the news, and mostly curious as to why Ross did not just tell them. Allegedly, he had to catch a flight, but that always seems to be the excuse. The vibes seemed quite positive up until this point, but perhaps the Boss was not feeling the interview. 85 South continued their chat to discuss all else that was going on in the world, like the latest Verzuz battle, and more.

They definitely held it together and professional, but DC said he was definitely going to bring this up next time he ran into Rozay. The Migos had previously walked out on an interview in a bit of a more abrupt get away. However, the Irish goodbye did not go well on Instagram for the boss, where many were clowning him for leaving early, suggesting he did not want to be trolled based on his album sales.

Not the nicest or most professional move on Rozay’s part, however, as the album title alludes, he’s richer than he’s ever been and he will be just fine doing what we wants to do.
