Paragraphs I Manifest

Big Daddy Kane, Snoop Dogg

Big Daddy Kane is the next hip-hop phenomenon to land a Netflix Documentary, and the featured talent list is crazy. Over the summer, BDK suggested that the documentary is almost complete, and had been hinting at collaborators on the project all year. Now, there appears to be one additional musical giant added to the roster, before we get to witness whatever magic has been created over the past year.

The documentary is titled, Paragraphs I Manifest, and according to Big Daddy Kane is all about lyricism. Typically when you think of a documentary, you think about someone’s life and what they went through. This concept seems to be a bit unique and really special, where BDK suggests they will break down the process of writing lyrics, and how certain areas of music compare from his prime days, to music today.

There is a large roster of talent that BDK has confirmed will be represented throughout the film. From JAY-Z, Eminem, KRS-One, Doug E. Fresh, to battle rappers such as Goodz Da Animal and Aye Verb who will compare battle rap today from what it was in the 1980s.

Big Daddy Kane suggested that JAY-Z speaks on all that BDK taught him, and Eminem breaks down certain things that BDK did for him, that he did not even know about until their conversation. Knowing how much Em is able to break down different pieces of music and bodies of work as a whole, it will certainly be an interesting conversation, and a bit of a history lesson for those who are not as familiar with the work of Big Daddy Kane.

Who is the new artist that BDK brought into the fun? None other than the man making all the biggest moves this year - Snoop Dogg. Big Daddy Kane shared a photo of himself and Snoop Dogg, saying the two of them, as well as Lady London shared a bunch of ‘gems’ during their chat yesterday, and thanked them both for being a part of the documentary.

I am sure that this could go on forever with everyone else who wants to join in on the fun, but for personal reasons, I am hoping that was the cherry on top and this film releases as soon as possible! Hip-hop history, the technicalities of lyricism, and how it has evolved overtime, is surely to be an incredible body of work. The release date has yet to be released, but it will eventually be available for stream on Netflix.
