Minions seem to have sneaker deals and random endorsements every which way yo look. Reebok just did a crazy Toy Story collaboration on the Instapump Fury, which will be followed up with a Minions pack. Perhaps the folks and Universal and Reebok have a great relationship together. The two silhouettes are quite interesting, but I am not sure it will be as big as Toy Story.

The thing about the success of the Toy Story collaboration, is sneaker heads today that are out buying shoes for retail or over asking, we grew up on Toy Story. This was our childhood, and we still would watch it if it came on for our own pleasure. A Toy Story collaboration is symbolic to our upbringings, and is something that we have never had access to before. Following up with a Minions collaboration right after, sure it is cool, but it is not the same. I honestly, have never seen the Minions movies. Sure, most people have, but it was kind of take your nephews, or let’s just go see what the hype is about. These things do not even talk. How is that enjoyable? Minions to us, is much more of a ‘kid thing.’ I am sure they will do just fine, and some people will ride for the Minions, but it just is not as emotionally tied to the generation as Toy Story - a classic, legend.

Still, these color ways are very cool, and play on the themes quite nicely. The Instapump clearly resembles the Minions themselves, with the all-over yellow upper. Small blue and green details resemble the uniforms of the Minions, while the “pump” button is an eye. What a cute touch. The Question Mid represents the lab the Minions work in. Each and every detail represents something that just makes sense. From caution tape, to red error buttons, test tubes, the testing tables, etc. Super out there, and super lab appropriate.

There are a few other silhouettes in this collaboration, some just as crazy and some totally clean and classic. A little something for everyone, no matter if you are Bob, Stewart or Kevin.
