PUMA releases their latest version of the Sky Modern in collaboration with the Trevor Project. The silhouette is a performance basketball shoe, encompassing a colorway and small, yet significant details to represent the Trevor Project. Proceeds will be benefiting the non-profit, just in time to support them and others during mental health awareness month.

The Trevor Project’s logo is orange, which is clearly represented in the strap, formstrip, the added on piece of the heel for stability, as well as some other printed details. The back of each sneaker has an orange printed logo mash up between PUMA and Trevor Project, with “Sky” for the name of the silhouette, in a rainbow font colorway. Finally, the inserts are orange with the Trevor Project logo, which is always a fun hidden element.

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for the LGBTQ+ youth. The organization has been active since 1998 to help support this group through phone, text and chat. In today’s world, especially with the coronavirus pandemic, times are getting hard for everyone. We do not get to go out and see our friends, fresh air seems hard to come by, and sometimes we get to feeling very alone. PUMA has tapped into their basketball roster of athletes, as well as key members of the Trevor Project to put out a PSA regarding what this sneaker means to both organizations, and also to share some great tips of how to cope during these times. We’re all in this together.

This silhouette is a basketball sneaker, so if you do not play, and you’re not into wearing high-tops for fun, you may think this is not the right sneaker for you. However, it has a special meaning you cannot deny, and all the proceeds will support the Trevor Project foundation. I love a good sneaker with a story.
