To Free, Or Not To Free YNW Melly

Melly.jpg

There has been a lot of talk around YNW Melly coming home in the near future. Isn’t this a little alarming, seeing as last April he was being tried for the Death Penalty? YNW Melly and his friend YNW Bortlen are on trial for a double-murder case of their two best friends, from the YNW group. I was super quick to preach Free Lil Booise, Free Meek Mill, etc., etc. But this case, I truly think you’re crazy if you’re preaching Free Melly. But people are, so let’s look at it from a far.

Why would they kill their best friends? Part of their own group? It doesn’t seem logical, but how much would you give for fame? All four members were in the car, and Melly and Bortlen apparently drove around for hours with dead bodies in the car, before bringing them to the hospital, reporting a drive-by. I believe that science and medics can tell how long ago injuries happened, so if this was real, why wouldn’t they call for help right away? Images from the crime scene show by the angles of the bullets and marks around the car, the shots came from inside the vehicle, from Melly’s seat specifically. Shell casings were also found inside the vehicle. On top of all this, have you listened to any of Melly’s songs? Murder On My Mind, probably one of Melly’s most well-known songs. I physically cannot watch the video because of how gruesomely disturbing the content is. The song, literally about every single detail of how he killed a man, and doesn’t seem quite fazed during his jail time.

It seems like a clear verdict to me, but Melly and his team are still claiming their innocence. Melly has hits with Kanye West, Juice WRLD, Tee Grizzley, A Boogie, and many more. I saw a video of him FaceTiming with Future, with even Future saying bring Melly home. I am a bit surprised that if he did do this to his two best friends, why he would still be getting all this love. His mother is on Instagram claiming his innocence, saying he’ll be home soon. Even his ex-lawyer says “based on evidence” he predicts a not-guilty result. I really don’t see given all of this, where his innocence comes into play anywhere in this case.

A since deleted post on Melly’s Instagram wrote “3/13” in the caption, which lead people to believe he may be coming home soon. However, this simply was alluding to the release of the Suicidal Remix, featuring Juice WRLD. Which, I also think is strange, seeing as how soon it is after his passing, and the context of the song. Not a fan.

Verdict: Not To Free.
