Nicki Minaj or Cardi B

Honestly a cliche comparison at this point, but I feel like it’s necessary to discuss if we’re going to have this section of the blog.

When I was younger, I swear I wanted to be Nicki Minaj. She’s been around for just about two decades, and if you can think way back then, she came in hott. She was making hits left and right and we didn't have a female icon at the time (before her, yes, but not at this point in time). Being tight with Drake and Lil Wayne made her the Queen of rap, but nothing lasts forever. Gucci Mane was on Nicki before Lil Wayne was, but she doesn’t rep that so you probably didn’t know. Nicki Minaj, now known as Nicki Petty, is Petty within herself. The last few albums, hits, records, she’s put out, have been bad. Her tour got cancelled for not selling tickets in 2018. I think she pretended to retire to amp up the next project she was getting ready for. She got into this huge fight with Meek Mill to release that terrible song, Yikes. Overall, I think Nicki’s attitude is poor, because she is salty about her time on top coming to an end. Queen Radio is basically a shit-talking show. On Twitter, Nicki trolls back and forth, puts people down for doing the same, and really is just continuously asking for accolades within the fans that she still has.

Cardi B surprised me when she came out. I was on her already, but I didn’t think the world could handle her. Now, I kind of think she is the only female within the past two decades of hip-hop that can hang with Nicki. The thing about Cardi is, she is so much more fun, and does not care about what others are saying. I would rather see the real, no makeup, you on Instagram, giving me your real life opinions, rather than seeing a bunch of thirst traps that I don’t even think are really you. (I’m talking about the twerking video on the bed with the stripped dress, Nicki). Anyways, Cardi gives it one-hundred and ten every verse she gets on. She out raps the guys, and she never feels repetitive. I was skeptical about the album, but even her slow, emotional songs were hits. Cardi keeps it real, her music always hits, and she has the ultimate star power, that will hold anyways interest. Even if you don’t like her music, you’re going to want to see what she has to say, because it’s just going to be the most entertaining part of your day. I think she has slowed up just a bit since her pregnancy, but I think we can be expecting her to start going hard again real soon. I think the longevity is there.

Winner at this current point in time: Cardi B
