Fivio Foreign, Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj’s comeback to music is in full force. Not that she really left, I know the Barbz will be mad, but she took a step back releasing new music during her pregnancy. In typically Nicki fashion, were are not just getting one single, we’re getting a ton. The latest, may just be the King and Queen of NYC collab we did not know we needed.

We Go Up released on Friday, a Nicki Minaj single featuring Fivio Foreign. The official lyric video already hit a million views on YouTube, and it is sure to go up after these birthday images arrived. For someone like Nicki Minaj, whom has been putting out records for over a decade, to collab with someone like Fivio who was just a XXL Freshman last year, it always makes a lot of noise. Was I expecting it though? You are damn right I was.

Nicki recently dropped back-to-back singles with Lil Baby. This made complete sense. Lil Baby is carrying the new generation of hip-hop and is truly in peak form. It made perfect sense for Nicki to do these tracks, show that she can hang and that she is still following the game to the fullest (in case there was anyone doubting). In the first single, I do not know why no one’s been talking about it, because it’s the one line that repeats in my head daily asking why, she name drops Fivio Foreign. In the very first verse of the track, Nicki pens:

They want that heat, I'm the only provider
Little bad foreign bitch, word to Fivio

It is not new for Nicki to name drop people that fit well into her rhyme schemes, so it could have just been a bar to match the foreign reference, but I have been waiting for the single to come through since.

Next, let’s not forget how hard Nicki was riding for Tekashi 6ix9ine before (and after) he went through his whole situation. He was a rapper from New York, up-and-coming, making all the noise in the world. Nicki jumped on that and maximized her presence in the new scene. Currently, Fivio Foreign is carrying New York Drill, and people are picking up on it. It is a big task at hand to keep up with, but Nicki said New York better come through on this new drill beat I have thrown together. She knew what she was doing there, and it could be much more than one hit single.

Fivio Foreign turned thirty-two over the weekend, and it appears Nicki Minaj showed up to celebrate his birthday. They took dozens of photos and videos together, and looked like they were having a ball. Fivio posted a Tweet saying that partying with Nicki on his birthday was the best gift he’s ever got. On Instagram, Nicki commented under his post saying “It’s ya time.”

How do we feel about this duo? Is Fivio Foreign taking 6ix9ine’s place as Nicki’s new King of NYC protégé?

PS - Nicki showed up to the party rocking a black hair style with red bangs, and a black floral bomber jacket. This is SO New York and quite possibly my favorite Nicki look of all time.
