Asian Doll, JT, Megan Thee Stallion

Asian Doll, JT, Megan Thee Stallion

It is no secret that the ladies have been taking over the hip-hop game as of late. There is a great to question to ask, which is, why is it just getting so big, now? Were there just not as many female hip-hop artists? Were we just not accepting of them? Or were they, not accepting, of each other? A beef between several of the hottest hip-hop females artists out make us look back how we got to be in this very position.

Lil Kim and Trina are legends in the space. You could for sure say that so is Nicki Minaj, for being the sole female hip-hop artist to really do it during her time. However, things went left when Cardi B began to come in and take some of that shine. Their beef with each other was heard around the globe, no matter how much they tried to play it off. Whether it be redoing a verse, not sharing the new, to throwing heels at a high-class event, there is no denying a bit of bad blood amongst the two.

Most recently, Cardi B teamed up with Megan Thee Stallion for their chart topping single, WAP. During a press tour, Cardi spoke about how important she thought it was, as a female hip-hop artist, to empower other female hip-hop artists. She did mention that when it was Nicki’s time, she was the only one to be doing it, and she did it well. But now, Cardi notices tones of female talent, and feels it important to pick each other up and support each other, instead of tearing down other females in a male-lead industry.

Today in hip-hop, we have Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Mulatto, City Girls, Kash Doll, Asian Doll, Doja Cat, Rapsody and so many more. It seems like the one getting the most shine as of late, is having a hard time matching the energy Cardi was preaching, on a song that she, herself helped make so big. Megan Thee Stallion is a bit under fire from one of her good friends, for taking her off of her album.

Asian Doll is a female rapper from Dallas, who says that Megan Thee Stallion is her real friend. Both being Texas natives, you can see their similarities and expect them to be great friends. However, Megan’s recognition in the industry has taken off to a different than that of Asian Doll. So, when it came down to dropping her debut major album, Megan had decisions to make. Allegedly, Asian Doll was supposed to be on the track Do It On The Tip. Interestingly enough, she had been replaced on the track, by a City Girls verse. JT and Yung Miami together got one verse, much shorter than Megan’s intro verse, but there was something about it that made Megan cut Asian Doll’s verse from the song.

Personally, I think the song would have been killer if she kept Asian Doll and the City Girls on it. Why remove great content, when it could be supporting something so important, like a woman’s equal rights in a male-dominant industry, especially when you know exactly what it is like to go through this. Not only that, but how much press Cardi got, for simply giving other female hip-hop artists a three second cameo in her WAP video. If I am being honest, I had not even listened to this song before hearing about the drama. I feel like the album was missing a lot for me, and I was not as excited to listen top to bottom. After listening through it a few times, it is just another song, as nasty as the name of the track sounds, and could have received a lot more credit if it showcased all the girls in the industry that were currently getting down like this.

The drama begins to poor in with hurt Tweets and an Instagram Live from Asian Doll. Now, she has already been going through a lot recently with the traumatic loss of her boyfriend, King Von. Now, she is calling out the fact that someone whom she considered to be a real friend, had taken away her moment to shine. On Instagram Live, she played her unreleased verse from Do It On The Tip. She claimed that she had the beat and recorded her verse before anyone else had the song, but that it was not going to come out, and she was not quite sure what had happened. As the fans began to demand answers from Megan as to why Asian Doll would have been taken off the track, Asian Doll realized things were going to get messy, and tried to clear it up.

She tweeted out, "Me & Megan still friends idgaf about no song I did in my sleep." However, it appears that JT from City Girls was calling her bluff, because then she went to Twitter, with subliminal messages that were since ruled to be against the Asian Doll and Megan Thee Stallion situation. JT wrote:

“A real friend is something you bitches really don't know nothing about! I been doing good but ima bout to start laying y'all attention hoes out & I'm coming with FACTS!!!!! Sympathetic ass hoes are really starting to grind on my gears! FR!"

JT has also been on blast recently for her extremely insensitive tweets over the year. She had deleted her Twitter, then came back to it. However, it appears after this little fiasco, that she is off of her verified Twitter account, once again. I do not really see there being a need to come after Asian Doll for this act, clearly she had already one the case. However, I am sure that she was getting a bit of heat from taking this spot from Asian Doll, from whomever her die hard fans may be.

Though JT denied these messages being about Asian Doll, it appears to be true when Asian Doll gets emotional and calls out Megan again. In short, she questions Megan, whom was her “real friend” for letting another female that she barely knows get into her head. Where is Megan throughout all of this? She is watching. But she just tweets once to say “we got each other number in real life I do not have anything to say to anyone on this app.”

Asian Doll is rightfully upset that her friend had nothing to say after things got a little out of hand. She reminds everyone of how she stuck up for Megan during her ongoing crazy case with Tory Lanez. However, when it comes down a single on an album, Megan was unable to comfort her friend, which seems quite sad.

Most of these tweets have since been deleted, but can be found across a number of reporting pages, like The Shade Room and Hollywood Unlocked. It seems like to get to any level of success in our very different lives, we are taught something. That is, if you want to achieve your goals, you are going to have to make sacrifices and changes. In certain times, this may mean leaving what you know in the past, and finding something new. However, you should never forget about where you came from, or loose sense of your character. It makes me nervous about Megan and the direction she is going. At this point in time, it seems like she is just after her bag. We cannot forget all that she has been through herself, but for those reasons, it feels like it should be most important to her to keep her real friends close. Comments are flooding these reporting pages questioning if Megan is playing the victim in all her recent media news. I do not believe her rise to fame will slow down anytime soon, but we should watch out to see if she can make amends with her real friends, which would show great accomplishment for the upcoming superstar.
