Oraph’s Bank Account Lil Yachty, Drake, DaBaby (single) 3.9.20

First of all, this single creative is absolutely ridiculous. Lil Yachty is dressed up like Oprah, as well as throughout the music video which is also currently live. The music video is a whole nine minutes long, as breaks are taken in between verses to represent an actual Oprah show.

This is a weird trio, if I do say so myself. While the song may be catchy, I think the whole thing is rather corny. But I don’t mean it to be a hater, I think this is exactly what they were going for when they put this together. It feels like Drake enjoys making a fool out of himself in music videos. Like, in the ‘No Guidance’ video, Drake makes fun of himself dancing in a comical manner, loosing a battle to Chris Brown, and embarrassing himself amongst girls and the crew around them. In this video, Drake’s verse is pretty cocky. But then, while he is being interviewed by Oprah, he pokes fun at his image the whole time. I’d say it’s a rebuttal on the haters, but done in a goofy way. He talks about growing a beard for the first, makes fun of how ‘light skin’ he acts, he says weird things like “oh-nat” (all natural), and he pronounces Lil Yachty’s name incorrectly and says he makes music that should never be heard by humans again. This is totally the vibe of the video, but I think Drake is trying too hard to fit in with the ‘cool kids’.

B Simone makes an appearance as the voice for a plastic surgery commercial ad in between the Lil Yachty and DaBaby verse. That’s my girl, and she definitely fits here since she’s obsessed with DaBaby, and she’s hysterical. The better fit than any of these features, in my opinion.

DaBaby makes me think he’s taking it more seriously, with his verse. Then we get to his interview. Oprah asks DaBaby about why all his songs sound the same, which is similar to Drake clowning on himself. We know this is a touchy subject for DaBaby, which he mentions a few times on his last sing, ‘Shut Up’. It only gets more wild from here. Oprah then asks DaBaby why he always says “Lets go” in his songs.

“Where are you going? Have you thought of DaBaby’s gps? How about DaBaby’s Daycare?”

The song content wise doesn’t make any sense. The music video is a whole Oprah skit. It is so fricken stupid. I think I like it.
