Lil Uzi Vert That Way (Single) 3.1.20

Lil Uzi Vert dropped a single today, in anticipation of the soon to release album, Eternal Atake. Hearing that the song is called That Way, I was excited and thought I was going to get some Bad & Boujee vibes. Unfortunately, I was extremely mistaken.

The song starts with really strange singing “I want it that way.” It sounds like a choir of Kids Bop children singing a gospel version of the Backstreet Boys. However, I think it is just Lil Uzi Vert with some epic autotune. When the first verse started, I thought, maybe it will get better? Wrong again. I absolutely hate this song. I hate the whiny chorus. There were a few cool bars in here, but there was one flow the entire song. I was waiting so bad to break it down, switch it up. Nothing. This song gives me headaches with the whiny stretched out vocals and nonstop tambourine jingles.

“I’m with the winning team, they make sure I’m not in last place. If I wake up don’t make no money it’s a sad day.”

I feel like if you want to do something totally different and unexpected, make it enjoyable. If Uzi took a Backstreet Boys chorus and rapped over the beat in his normal persona, I would have been all over that. Lil Uzi Vert is like, the one rapper that I do really enjoy, but kind of keep a secret about it. This song was just completely horrible to me. I am realizing that these vocals were pretty similar to what he did on PTSD on G Herbo’s album, and I hope that Eternal Atake is not filled with this nonsense.

Lil Uzi Vert, if you’re reading this, I’m sure the kids will go for it. But it’s going to be a no from me.
