Rolling Loud Miami 2021

Rolling Loud Miami 2021

Festivals are back, at least for now, and Rolling Loud Miami set the bar heavy for what is to come. It seems like everyone was there, and really laid it all out on the stage for their fans. Whether or not you were in Miami, you certainly had the option to Live Stream, or, you have likely seen videos and articles about what went on. Here is an overview of the jam packed hip-hop music festival weekend.

To start, Coi Leray once again had a difficult time getting her fans jumping. Videos and images have emerged of a quiet crowd during the new XXL Freshman’s performance, but to be fair, she is continuously pulling massive shows and events as a relatively new artist. One video shows her jumping into a crowd during No More Parties, where the crowd seems to hype up just a bit, for the song they definitely know and love. Lil Durk has had her back in the past, and once again comes through with some words of encouragement for Coi Leray during another questionable review of performance.

Coi Leray responded with her positive thoughts on Durk, who was also at the show. Lil Durk had one of the longer stage times during the festival, and of course paid tribute to King Von. A whole band came out in order to do so, and the OTF was definitely present.

Who really made their presence known, was of course, DaBaby. You could just tell that this man was missing his live shows. He was all the way turned up, took his chain off to go crowd surfing, I am sure he gave security a heart attack trying to get him back with everyone in one piece. While he arguably the most fun and turned up performance of the night, it did not come without controversy.

DaBaby made some comments about the LQBTQ+ Community that is not sitting well with many. Though, T.I. sides with DaBaby speaking his personal opinion. Another questionable moment, which ultimately was really fun, was his surprise guest. DaBaby’s giant mascot that looks like him came out, during his Cry Baby performance. Once he finished the song, Baby made a dramatic reveal for whom was wearing the mascot, who was none other than Tory Lanez. DaBaby gave Tory his mic, and they went on to perform their new track, SKAT, together. The original release of this song made Megan quite angry with DaBaby, who only followed up this performance with Cash Sh**, another feature with Megan. I was honestly watching so closely to see if she’d show up, but nope. She was, however, in the arena, too.

Megan Thee Stallion wore an orange mesh dress with bedazzled bra and Jordan 1s. She had backup dancers wearing the same outfit as her in all different colors, so, they looked like a crayon box. It is always fun to see some choreography and obviously Megan is known for her dance moves, but I do feel the energy was brought down a bit because is was put more into the dances than delivering her lyrics. None the less, we all love a Megan twerk-off.

Jack Harlow brought his friend and NBA Star Tyler Herro on stage, whom he has a whole song about. Lil Uzi Vert shoulder shrugged the night away in his XXX Tentacion inspired braids. Post Malone delivered an emotional, rock star performance as always. Rico Nasty dressed in a goth look with red mullet and proved she is not one to be messed with. Bobby Shmurda had the crowd going crazy when he did the Shmurda Dance, and played some new music for the crowd, saying he has been filming all week.

The list does not end there, with other performances from Lil Baby, Rick Ross, Wale, Young Dolph, Key Glock, Gucci Mane, Young Thug, Mulatto, Kodak Black, DDG, Lil TJay, and so many more.

Unfortunately, artists Sheff G, Fredo Bang and Spotemgottem were all announced unable to preform as scheduled, due to being locked up at this moment in time. However, the weekend was certainly lit, and so was Rolling Loud’s socials after these short, discouraging announcements.

This festival has set the bar so high for concerts and festivals to come. Rolling Loud will next be hitting New York City in October. If you do not plan to be there, I recommend you prepare to live stream.
