Gucci Mane, Lil Durk

Gucci Mane and Lil Durk just dropped a new single, Rumors, which has the internet talking. While the title of the track is subjective to things that people say but are not necessarily true, it seems like Gucci and Durk both knew exactly what was on people’s minds, and they may or may not have reignited old drama.

Lil Durk has been on the top of his game in hip-hop the past year or so, but the drama tied to his name has yet to simmer. Most recently, the “money challenge” has made its round across social media, which has been ignited by NBA Youngboy and Lil Durk who people think are beefing about matters that deem violent. In a few of Youngboy’s recent new singles, he mentions O’Block and some other things to where people assume he is dissing Lil Durk. Each of them, then shared suspicious and aggressive messages, allegedly to each other, with their money.

Loosing King Von has been an ongoing topic of Durk’s music, and NLE Choppa seemed to get into the mix when he allegedly told Durk not to retaliate. However, he does constantly bring up Von, retaliating, and the killing of someone from the opposite team, FBG Duck. FBG Duck’s mother actually went on social media to participate in the challenge, where she wrote out “stop dissing da dead,” in toilet paper. This is where everything comes to light.

Though Durk does not directly mention NBA Youngboy, NLE Choppa, FBG Duck, or any names in particular, however it was clear that plotting, or revenge, was on his mind.

What you know about popping out and trying to hit they face first

They like Smurk, you a** be tripping, better put your case first

Choking who, I heard them rumors ***** better play slow

I don’t want to ***** who you catch, I want the one I paid for

While Durk started out strong and intense, Gucci Mane stole the show by bringing back old beef which we had thought, and hoped, was squashed. The drama between Gucci Mane and Jeezy go back decades, and is much more than just a rap beef. Last year, during the legendary Verzuz battle amongst the two, things instantly went a bit left when Gucci Mane performed a song that speaks about Jeezy’s friend whom had passed away, in a violent act that occurred amongst the two artists. By the end, Gucci and Jeezy seemed to have squashed the beef, performed their old single Icy together, and had even planned on doing a tour together with some other artists from their time.

We loved seeing these two rekindle their relationship, however now fans are wondering where they stand. Gucci Mane name drops Jeezy’s deceased friend, Pookie, says that his spirit is haunting Gucci’s house, and goes into a bit of detail about the “Rumors” that went down during his killing.

VA dropped my murder, didn’t have evidence to prove it

I think my house is haunted, yeah by who The Ghost of Pookie

He ain’t killed nobody but keep rapping about the shootings

Still ain’t got revenge yet but keep making up excuses

It is almost as if Gucci Mane is looking to see if his issues with Jeezy and his collective will resurface. Perhaps it was merely to spark some interest in the 1017, again, after Pooh Shiesty was denied bars and remains behind jail.

Gucci Mane seems to have the sources to pull together a great squad of talent in 1017, but cannot seem to find himself out of trouble. Similarly, Lil Durk has the same issues within himself, and Only The Family.

The song is upbeat and energetic just has a bit of a dark-rooted message, throughout. Quite the dynamic duo of these, were able to put together a music video featuring dozens of well known friends from their labels and crews. The video has over 2.5 million views in less than twenty-four hours.

Is anything these two create a bop, or do you have to listen to Duck’s mom when she says to leave those at rest, at rest? Does Jeezy come back for a new round of trouble, with former friend and former woe, Gucci Mane?
