And the Patriots Next Trade…Rob Gronkowski?
4.21.20
The Patriots have made a number of changes to their roster this off-season, including a heartbreaking loss of twenty playing season, six Super Bowl Championships Quarter Back, Tom Brady. Though there were speculations that he would be leaving the Patriots during his free agency, New England fans were still shocked by the move. Not only are they surprised that he would leave with likely only a year or two left before retirement, but that he chose to go to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Speculations had him going to the West Coast, but due to family matters he decided to just move South.
If you recall, prior to Tom Brady’s move, I wrote an article saying that Tom Brady would stay with the Patriots, and Rob Gronkowski would come out of retirement to play with him one more year. Well, I was half right. Perhaps it was the shock factor in the move, the desire to move somewhere warm, or that Gronk just missed the game so much and only wants to play with his favorite QB. But yes, Rob Gronkowski has announced that he will be coming out of retirement for the 2020 season.
Gronk allegedly approached the Patriots organization saying that he was interested in playing football again, specifically with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Just shortly after, the trade was agreed upon. The New England Patriots are trading Rob Gronkowski and seventh-round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft. Considering the Patriots did not use Gronkowski all last season, and who knows how his body will hold up next season, this could be a fine trade for the Patriots.
I am not sure what this means for Gronk’s wrestling career. It was just announced this past March that the WWE had signed Rob Gronkowski to Smack Down. He appeared at WrestleMania, where he shockingly walked away with the 24/7 Title. Basically, this title is up for grabs at all costs. Typically won over in an arranged match, but this one went haywire. Upon the closing of scheduled match, a brawl broke out amongst several different wrestling partners. Gronk appeared out of no where, jumped on everyone from up above, and pinned the current champion, to take over the belt.
Now that the WrestleMania champion is returning to football, we might have to say goodbye to this for now. Will he give up the title? Or maybe loose it prior to the start of the NFL season? I wish he was coming back to New England, but I am still excited to see what him and Tom Brady will do on the field again, together.
