It is officially the greatest time of year, aka, football season. Whether you’re in it for the sport, the drinks and snacks, the fall weather, or the Super Bowl Half Time Performances, there tends to be something that everyone can enjoy. Now that week three of football is coming to close, there has been a lot of chit chat over who would be taking the stage during halftime at this year’s Super Bowl, following last year’s tough-to-top performance. Well, they may have just topped it.

Super Bowl LVII will take place on February 12th, 2023. Just over four months to go, but we are already guessing the teams that will make it to the end, and wondering who on earth could live up to last year’s incredible Half Time Show performance featuring Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J Blige and 50 Cent. There were rumors that Taylor Swift was going to be the performer, and of course, there were mixed feelings on the idea. Allegedly, it was all just an idea that Taylor Swift fans put together based on some clues shared on the internet. However, the rumor has been put to rest as the NFL and performer have officially confirmed the performer. Rihanna.

Dr. Dre had an incredible powerhouse of team come through to support his Super Bowl performance last year. It lead new music, new tours, new labels and musical production across the board from the talents that took the stage with the Doc. This year, fans can hope the same to come from Rihanna.

Rihanna took to Instagram to share her very notable henna tattooed wrist holding an NFL football. One could only assume this meant she would be this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, and the NFL soon confirmed the status. They event updated their Instagram Profile to read “NFL: Nation Fenty League” while tagging the artist. Now there a collaborative partner.

The partnership seems to be routed through Roc Nation, and with this big of a platform, we can only hope that this means Rihanna will have new music to release. It has been years since we’ve had new music from Rihanna, but she has certainly kept busy. FENTY Beauty is officially available in Africa, she continues to push her makeup and apparel brands, do interviews and magazine covers, oh, and she has become a first time mom. Could it be time that she is ready to share all that she has experienced with us, via new music, this upcoming February?

Either way, her performance is sure to have us all singing her singles from the early 2000s, dancing in our living rooms and ask “what are sports?!” when it ends. What is your favorite Rihanna song you hope to hear during the Super Bowl Halftime Show?
