2023 Conference Champions

1.30.23

Jalen Hurts, Kansas City Chiefs

Yesterday, the 2023 NFL Conference Championships took place, and we now know what the Super Bowl will look like. Come February 12th, history will be made. Perhaps by views, a Super Bowl performance, but much, much more.

In the American Football Conference, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals to move forward to Patrick Mahomes third Super Bowl game. In the National Football Conference, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the 49ers who struggled with a healthy quarterback, though nonetheless, to an Eagles team that went 14-3 this season.

When the Chiefs go head-to-head with the Eagles for Super Bowl LVII, it will be the first time in history we see two black quarterbacks face each other in a Super Bowl game. In 2020, Mahomes became the third black quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl. This comes after Doug Williams (1988, Washington Redskins), and Steve McNair (2000, Tennessee Titans). If Mahomes is able to pull off a Super Bowl Victory over Jalen Hurts of the Eagles, he will be the first black quarter back to win the Super Bowl twice. However no matter who wins, history is already being made.

In addition to the great lineup of talent we have for the game, the halftime show will include a performance by Rihanna. The NFL has been playing off of her lack of new music to promote the performance, which could be a tactic new music is on the way. Between the action and the music, there is sure to be some fun for everyone during Super Bowl LVII.
