Tom Brady Is Not Leaving: Unpopular Opinion
2.25.20
Unpopular opinion too many. Maybe a popular opinion to some believers, but let’s talk about it. Within the next few weeks, for the first time Tom Brady will be partake in Free Agency by talking with other teams to potentially go play for. After twenty seasons with the Patriots, and six Super Bowl rings, this has a potential to be a devastating end of an era. But honestly, I think it is a ton of talk, to come back and throw it in everyone’s faces that “We’re still here.” I just don’t see the man leaving, this “dynasty” that he helped create.
So, obviously there are some pressing factors. First, everyone thinks that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick hate each other. Whether or not that be the case, you don’t get along with anyone all the time, let alone your boss. If Brady is getting his check, which he will, they’ll be fine. Rumors about selling his house? That’s fine, because it hasn’t happened yet. Brady has not officially moved to Connecticut, and if he did, what team is going to play for in Connecticut? That would just be a long ride back to Gillette, in my opinion. But again, it hasn’t happened yet, and I’m not sure it will.
Tom Brady has said he wants to retire by 45. That he still has a lot left in him, but that was the age number he would put on it if he had too. With that, and the fact that he is 43, why would he go spend his last two seasons somewhere else? Why wouldn’t you die in the jersey that encompassed your entire career? I don’t think Brady would make his children go anywhere that they don’t want to. I think his family comes first in his eyes, and they’re not about to start home hoping now for the last season or two of his career. I honestly think if anything, Gronk comes back and they play more year to retire in the most New England way, winning one more Super Bowl. Then, they can both go off to their families, and we can all die (but still live long, beautiful lives) in peace.
