New Cactus Jack x Nike Collab?
3.21.20
On Friday night, Travis Scott posted an IGVT of him making some beats in his house. At the angle that the video is taken, it’s almost like he wants you to notice something. You cannot see his face, or hands hitting the keys. So, why does it look like the camera is on the floor? Well, we have the perfect view of just one sneaker. One that we have no yet seen before.
This appears to be the leak of the Travis Scott Air Max 270 React ENG, the latest from the Cactus Jack x Nike collaboration. The original React ENGs are okay. I like the silhouette, but the color ways start to get too much when we mix colors in each and every piece on here. Similarly, I feel iffy on the Travis Scott version, as well. I like the overall color scheme, and the silhouette itself, but there are a few things I’m just not feeling.
The paint job on the sole looks absolutely horrible. It looks like you were trying to do a custom for the first time. Mixed some yellow and brown to get a dark tan. Used a thick paint brush, globed it all on there and didn’t bother to smoothen it out at all. It also appears to get onto the upper, like a poor glue job piecing the two pieces together. I’m also not a big fan of the towel material at the ankle. Mixing materials is cool. But this material, and this light of a color, is going to get grimy real quick. Recommendation, if you are wearing dark denim with these sneakers, cuff them so high that they do not come close to your sneakers. Otherwise, this section will turn blue.
I’m into the rest of it. I love the light brown with the dark brown upper. It looks nice with the teal accents. Though, I’m not sure why the red eyelets and the purple pull tab. This is giving me a bit of Toy Story vibes. Overall, it’s cool, and obviously going to sell out instantly. Probably one of the more wearable Travis Scott releases we’ve seen. This shoe is potentially launching as soon as April 10th. However, I’ve only heard word from one source so far. So stay tuned, and be ready.
