Sneaker Wars with Conceited

Sneaker Wars is a new YouTube series from Wild N Out, hosted by Conceited. I think it is a pretty cool idea. Wild N Out started doing some fun mini shows on their YouTube channel last year, with other comedians from the show, showcasing their specialities. Obviously Conceited is a battle rapper, but is also widely known as an avid sneaker head, and even has an additional Instagram page “Jimmy.Shoetron.” So, I think this is a great mini game show for him to get involved in, and is pretty fun to watch if you’re into customs or thinking of trying it out for the first time at home.
Conceited has two co-hosts. Brittney Eliana, my favorite Wild N Out girl, because she is also a WNBA Host and super sneakerhead, as well as Sean Wotherspoon, co-founder of Round Two.
Each episode holds two sneaker customizers to go head to head, customizing an unknown shoe, with a specific theme and hidden element. Many customizers may have a specific silhouette or materials they’re used to working with, but the silhouette is not revealed until on site. Each week there is a theme, and a hidden element that the customizers must incorporate into their designers. This could be something like a dip die, an added material, etc. They’re given paints, markers, glue guns, sewing machines and anything you could possibly need.
They’re quick ten minute episodes, but it is something super fun to get inspired, and realize all the things you can do to create your own pair of custom kicks. Whether you’re a really great painter, you sew, or just like to play with different materials and add on items that don’t typically belong. I’ve made one pair of customs in the past, and I’m hoping to continue experimenting a lot more again. This show definitely is inspiring to get back at it.
