Styling COOGI Print

8.27.20

One of the many stand out stories on the internet this week, has been that Biggie Smalls’ King of New York crown will soon be placed for auction. On September 25th, Sotheby Auction Company will hold their first ever hip-hop dedicated auction in New York. This auction will include about 120 items from hip-hop history, included Biggie’s crown, Tupac’s love letters and more. A portion of funds received from the auction will be donated to Building Beats, a non-profit that teaches tech, entrepreneurial and leadership skills to underserved kids through DJ and music programs.

To celebrate The Notorious B.I.G, let’s style some COOGI print. It is colorful, texturized and down right wild. But on a classic silhouette like the PUMA Clyde, the outfit options are endless. I definitely played with a variety of the colors across the shoes, and picked up on some of the textures as well. Of course, each look this week is named in honor of Biggie’s songs and legacy.

Nasty Gal

This is the most chill fit on the block, but I did purchase it from Nasty Gal, so the title just made sense. Biker shorts and baggy tees are the IT look this year, and boy do I hope it lives on. The colors in the sneakers are mostly dark, but there are a few small hits of lighter blue, making this a perfect contrasting color fit. You could rock this look running errands or to your 8AM class on Friday morning and still look bad AF (in a good way).

Cozy Coogi

PUMA did launch several COOGI collections a couple years back. This crew neck sweater dress actually goes perfectly with their Coogi California sneaker. Still, where the texture is just on the sleeves and broken up by straight black material, the pairing works quite nicely. Super cozy and perfect for dress weather with a slight breeze.

Juicy

Tight on the top, loose on the bottom. My favorite. Something about baggy pants and a classic sneaker feels so good. The gold in the shoes make this tan/gold-like outfit the perfect pairing. The pants are loose but not too baggy, with a top that you can tuck in or wear as a crop. Another cozy fit but super cute. I would wear this to a lunch, a picnic or casual drinks at a brewery our outdoor area.

Party And Bullsh**

Of course you are going to turn heads wearing these bad boys out. You would probably get props for repping, questions how to get them, and what on earth would you wear those with. When you think of Coogi at first you probably think of those giant sweaters, so a loose fitted denim feels most right when you are going to dress them up. Of course, a cropped hem to show off the kicks. Then I paired the high waisted denim with a cropped lace tee. Again playing with fun materials, and subtly with color.

Hypnotize

A black jumpsuit has never done me wrong, and this one is to die for. Plain and fitted with a lace trim on the bodice. If it is a bit too much or chilly outside, this is my favorite cardigan because it is cropped perfectly and has some fun subtle color that go great together and with the vibes of the shoe. Coogi shoe and a sweater, genius. This is definitely for a night out or a dinner, looking good and feeling better.

Warning

A long dress and a low top sneaker is everything. This dress is super light weight with a matching cardigan just as long. The fabric is a super light ribbed sweater material, which was a nice combo with the coogi fabric. The buttons go well with the gold chain on the cross body, as well as the gold eyelets and gold materials of the shoe. A perfect dinner look, winery look, or fancy causal night out. I would also wear this work if you can get away with it.
