Styling Designer Sneakers

8.20.20

Where sneaker culture has been gaining so much traction in the fashion industry, the luxury brands decided to hope on board. From the crazy chunky Balenciaga Triple S, the Luis Vuitton Archlight, the sock sneaker, and more, sometimes they can get a little crazy. Still, chunky is in, and if you can get your hands on a pair, you might as well wear them with pride.

PUMA recently did a collaboration with Balmain. Cara Delevigne was the face of the collection, inspired by boxing fashion. The collection included a decent variety of sneakers, boots, apparel and accessories. The CELL Stellar is one of my favorites, and I love the CELL silhouette before hand, but they basically just made an intensified version for the collab. Extra chunky, extra layers and materials, gold details and a hint of red to really make them pop. Here are several ways you can dress up or dress down your designer sneakers.

See You At The Track

A causal track suit goes a long way, but there are still plenty of ways to make it cute. These track pants are another collab from PUMA, and they’re to die for. They are super comfortable, and the cut at the ankles is just right. The cut is slim and just long enough to not be capris, but not drag on the ground either - perfect for showing off your sneakers. The red drawstrings for waist sizing pairs up perfectly with the sneakers. With the white PUMA logos down the sides, I paired these with a white ribbed crop top. Still gives the cozy vibe while making the look a bit more fierce. Grab your mini backpack for storing things, because I don’t think those are real zippers.

Balmain Champagne Campaign

I like to throw in an outfit for bars, dinners, etc. While a black chunky sneaker could be difficult for this occasion, here is your best fit. The medium wash denim with a super skinny fit will off balance the chunky and darkness of the sneakers. This top is one of my favorite going out tops, because it is classy, cute, and its flowy so you do not have to worry about being uncomfortable for drinks or food. Of course, the red is perfect for the small details in the sneakers. Some gold jewelry enhances the luxury vibes from the overall look, and you are ready to hit the town.

Sporty Spice

This look feels sporty but spicy, because you can really go either way with this jumpsuit. The legs are a relaxed fit, while the top is fitted with a front zipper. The khaki material let you dress this down on a chill day, or you could throw on a pair of black heels and stunt on everyone. I thought the color would be a nice different way you could play with these shoes, pulling out the gold details in the buttons and PUMA logo branding. Enhance the details with the chunky gold bracelet and clutch. I’d wear this look literally anywhere. To the bars, dinners, shopping around town. I have definitely even worn this look to work with a sweater on.

Knock Out

When I got these sneakers, the first thing I thought about was pairing it with these pants. When styling designer sneakers, you cannot go wrong with a fancy pant, that may look like it will cover the sneaker, but it just peers through. The pants have gold emblems up the sides which go great with the buttons on the sneakers. After the last button on the bottom, the pant opens up so you can clearly views the shoes on feet when walking. I paired this with a sporty bodysuit with a mid-body cutout. This is a crazy balance of high-end-streetwear-fancy-sporty vibes that you could wear whenever you are just trying to show off a bit.

Forever Classic

Simple but perfect. When matching your outfit to your sneakers, it is best not to match exactly, but do an epic reverse, or something close but not exact. With a mostly black sneaker with red details, I paired it with this red jumpsuit with black stripes down the side. They compliment each other very well, and where the shoes are elevated, this jumpsuit is too. It is a strapless jumpsuit, nice materials, and a tie in the middle for the perfect fit. This jumpsuit can also definitely be dressed up or down, for an overall look that is classic for any occasion.

Tap Out

This look cannot be beat. For a cocktail hour that you can wear sneakers to. A family party or gathering where you have to dress up, but show out. Fancy dresses and sneakers are highly becoming a thing, so what better than an off the shoulder, classic fitted black dress, and these beautiful kicks?
