Styling the Air Force 1 ‘07 “Violet Star”

7.2.20

The Air Force 1 is a classic, we have talked about it before. But are you really doing it if you are just wearing a basic white sneaker? This “Violet Star” color way is incredible. The upper is a hazy purple suede material. The sole is a translucent material with purple hint. The swoosh and heel branding are metallic, with a bit of lime green lining around the swoosh and accent pieces for color blocking. I am sure they are somewhat easily accessible, though I received a “Member Exclusive” note for these, and I obviously had to cop. Like always, you can dress them up, or dress them down. I love black, but a little bit of color is nothing to run away about.

Hazy Not Lazy

I thought this oversized acid wash crew neck would be dope with the cloudy wash of the suede upper on the sneaker. It comes with a matching pant, but here, I’d break it up with the plain, black biker short. This way, you break up the different colors and patterns, allowing the sneakers to still remain a focal point. The crewneck should be almost dress length, but the biker should keeps it calm and publicly acceptable.

Nature Walk

This romper is spandex and apparently made for exercise. I really do not think you can with the low v-neck without having an accident, but it is too cute to not rock anyplace else. The romper is a floral pattern with orange piping around the seams for a really flattering fit. The sneakers pop while pulling out colors from the flowers throughout. I would not want to get these kicks dirty, but such a cute outfit for sight seeing, going for a walk or running some errands.

Lady in the Air Force

There is just always something about dressing up a sneaker. You just have to learn to feel good doing it. Going to a party, but you have to walk. Going to a conference where everyone shows off their kicks (in my industry, this is key). Anywhere you want to look classy, but stunt a bit. Sneakers are worn on the Red Carpet now, so they can really be worn anywhere. This top from Urban Outfitters has adorable buttons, a bow cinching the waist, and a batwing sleeve. The top is a blush so it is not too matchy-matchy with the sneakers, but just the right amount that it flows with the black skinny jeans breaking it up in the middle. Flowly sleeves, skinny jeans, and the classic boxy Air Force 1, key to the classiest flex.

Mix It Up

We are having a bit of fun with partners and materials here, but it works. The top is a bell sleeve with a collar, but it is extremely light weight, and cropped with a tie tuck at the belly. These high waisted shorts are animal print, which is basically a key style for color blocking. The short yellowish background color pulls out the light detail colors in the sneakers, and makes this a surprisingly cohesive look. I would wear this to brunch, hanging out on the boardwalk, anywhere to have a good time. It will be pretty cute and flattering once you go for it.

Purple Paradise

Purple is such a fun bubbly color, and if the sneakers were not enough, this two-piece has got to do it for you. A white base with different shades of blue and purple lines, a triangle shaped top with mini buttons and a tie at the neckline. The tied neckline is key, because it is so easy to adjust to your liking. The shorts are flowy which is super to nice to balance out the top if it is more risky than the norm for you. Of course with this look, you have to be in comfortable kicks. I’ve worn this look on a boat cruise before, and would probably wear it to any bar or restaurant on the water. Super fun and very cute.

Volt Baby

Volt is Nike’s lime green colorway which you may find in the swoosh lining and accents around the sneaker. I do not think you can get any closer than this jumpsuit I’ve recently received from Urban Outfitters. The top has a cut out at the waist, with the bra tying in the center. Each leg is quite baggy, but adjustable nicely to give the sneakers the space they need to shine. This outfit goes pretty much anywhere you will be seen. You will be the best dressed. Everywhere.
