A Shiesty Freestyle

Pooh Shiesty Federal Contraband (Freestyle) 12.25.21

Pooh Shiesty had hip-hop wrapped around his finger, before landing himself in prison earlier this year. It is still unclear as to when he may be making a return, if at all, but in the meantime, he dropped off a Christmas present for fans, from behind bars.

Currently, Pooh Shiesty is facing life in prison. However, he is doing his best to remain positive. Last week, a social media post from his page shared a PO Box where his fans could send him drawings or letters. It suggested that he would be home soon, but that is wishful thinking.

On top of this, on Christmas day, we received a freestyle from Shiesty, which he is calling Federal Contraband. The freestyle is over five minutes long, and it is clear that it was recorded over the phone from his jail cell. Though you can stream the freestyle on every platform, it is clear that this is an over-the-phone recording, due to the static sound throughout.

While there were many things that Shiesty covered throughout the five minutes, there was a few bars that stood out. He mentioned that he tried to drop a song with Dolph and Gotti. This is a reference to Young Dolph, and Yo Gotti, who have a clear, well known beef. It only intensified with continuous rumors once Young Dolph was murdered. Shiesty said him almost dropping this, got him murked, insinuating that they were not having this collaborative track, even though it appears they both have love for Shiesty. I would contest that this is still the case, as Blac Youngsta of Yo Gotti’s label commented “FREE LIL BRUH ASAP” on one of Shiesty’s latest posts.

Following this bar, Pooh Shiesty asked Gucci Mane to squash his beef with Kodak Black, because their issues were not deep. Finally, he asked fans to go check on Big30 and make sure he was good. Big30 is another hip-hop artist who is known for being Pooh Shiesty’s best friend. He is also a member of Yo Gotti’s CMG, so it really feels like Shiesty is attempting to formulate a truce here, across the members of his hip-hop community. Especially, hip-hop in the south.

Again, Shiesty closes out his freestyle suggesting it will not be long until he is home. We can only hope that this is the case, and that hip-hop does call some sort of a truce on the violence, and focuses on cranking out the hits.
