Battle of Release Dates
3.8.22
The battle of release dates is always a friendly competition in hip-hop, but this one could get ugly. We have seen 50 Cent drop on the same day as Kanye West, and West try his luck against Drake. What is next, the people believe, is NBA Youngboy dropping a new album on the same release date as Lil Durk’s upcoming project, 7220.
Neither artist is new to any sort of controversy, and not even towards each other. These two have a history of violent affiliations, and have been beefing with each other for months. Starting with the money trend, then sending diss tracks back and forth, it does not appear it will slow up yet.
Durk announced his new project 7220 will release on March 11th. In a recent image he shared on Instagram, he warned people not to drop on the same date. Shortly thereafter, Youngboy’s producer shared an image of Youngboy, captioning it with a project title and a release date of some time in March. The people can only assume that this is a strategic mood to drop on the same day as Durk.

The end ?
#Demise
To get the party started a little early, NBA Youngboy and DaBaby just released a joint project last New Music Friday, which happened to be the same day in which King Von’s posthumous album released. Von ended up doubling sales with around 65,000 units sold, opposed to Youngboy and DaBaby’s 30,000.
The idea of multiple albums or projects dropping on the same day, comparing numbers and content, it is such a fun aspect of hip-hop. However, with these two, things could get messy.
Do you think NBA Youngboy will drop on the same day as Lil Durk? Who would sell more records?
