NBA Youngboy, DaBaby

Every new year, people make resolutions about what they want to change, or do better in the new year. So far in 2022, we’ve already heard a number of artist say they’re going to try something new, and we have a few more to add to the list. DaBaby has shared a snippet to a new single with NBA Youngboy, and the two have quite interesting, different sounds.

In the video snippet shared, DaBaby was pictured wearing a Fendi balaclava, had several children in one of his many whips pictured throughout, and just the head of a mannequin in his hands wearing another balaclava. NBA Youngboy is not in the video, and you may not think that it is him without reading the caption. DaBaby captioned the video asking fans to comment “YB Better” ten thousand times on the post in order for them to drop the song. Many of them did, but many of them also questioned who he sounded like.

DaBaby showcased a new flow with his verse and bridge over the chorus. There were lots of adlibs which is new for DaBaby, but the energy was unmatched, as always. NBA Youngboy did the adlibs throughout, which could have also counted for the chorus. Fans are saying he sounds quite similar to Playboi Carti. Carti fans for one, would never let anyone get away with this. Though, they are not far off. Youngboy had been recently discussing some changes since being released from prison, including changing up his sound, the content he was rapping about, and that he was now wearing makeup. Youngboy openly took the lanes of an emo rockstar rapper, which Playboi Carti has basically conquered.

The sound is quite similar, so Carti fans may pass on this one. However, if there is one thing about DaBaby’s hit singles, and Youngboy’s fans, is they are going to eat it up. In my opinion, even though they are not saying anything at all, there is too much energy not to jam to it. The tweet has less than 1,000 comments, but DaBaby’s Instagram page is more than doubled. Less than three months of Youngboy being home from prison, he may have yet another massive hit record on his hands. Hopefully, we get this track this New Music Friday - or sooner.
