Cooped Up

Roddy Ricch, Post Malone

Post Malone has a new album coming down the pipeline, and the next single from the project is just hours away. Scoring the cover of Billboard Magazine and being listed as part of the ‘2022 Power List,’ it was a given that Posty was going to have a big year. Not only is there music on the way, but a growing family.

On April 27th, Post Malone shared his new album is called Twelve Carat Toothache, which is due to release June 3rd. The title feels very Post Malone. Like the silver caps you had on your teeth as a child turning into jewels on your teeth because you are rich and famous. But, they are still a pain. Since then, we also learned that Post Malone is expecting his first child with long-term girlfriend.

A child and a new album in the same year, is essentially giving birth to two new children. Much to celebrate, and keep the family busy. Post Malone is also expected to make his Saturday Night Live Debut on May 14th, apparently with Selena Gomez. What songs is he expected to play? Well, he is releasing a new single off of the album, just in time for his performance.

Over the weekend, Post Malone shared an Instagram photo of himself and Roddy Ricch, captioning the image “I love u @roddyricch.” Just a few hours ago, a brief video clip announced that the single is titled Cooped Up, and will be releasing tomorrow, Thursday May 12th, as noon EST.

The brief clip looks like Post Malone cooped up in a room on his own, having a smoke. I am sure this what things looked like when he was cooped up in the house during covid. Or perhaps cooped up trying to formulate this album. It could mean so many different things. Roddy is a star who seems to go viral with every single he releases, but has been a bit slow to the limelight recently.

I would assume Post Malone plays the brand new single on Saturday Night Live. Is the Selena Gomez duo performance hinting at a collaboration from the two? I am not sure, but I feel like it would be interesting for them both. Though, I can already tell the Post and Roddy collaboration is going to be one for the books. Maybe our summer smash hit record, I hope!
