DaBaby, Whole Lotta Money Freestyle

DaBaby, Whole Lotta Money Freestyle

DaBaby continues to show the industry why he will not be canceled. It just so happens that Hot97 let him perform this past weekend and Summer Jam, and not only did he rock the stage, but has released a new freestyle to all those who doubted him.

Whole Lotta Money is a massive record from upcoming artist BIA. She has over 4,000,000 views on the original music video, and over 14,000,000 on her remix with Nicki Minaj. The beat has a heavy bass and keys, a perfectly energetic song for DaBaby to have his way on.

DaBaby once agains declares that he will not be canceled, and even for those who think they have taken him so far south, he reminds people that even if he stopped making music tomorrow, he would be just fine. DaBaby reminds us about the artists he has under him, all his properties, and owning his own masters. It almost seems foolish to think that you could possibly cancel someone with the influence, confidence, and demeanor as DaBaby.

What I really want to talk about, however, is these freestyle music videos. Has anyone else noticed that whenever DaBaby name drops, or makes a reference to something, he holds up a picture of it? In DaBaby’s Whole Lotta Money Remix, he name drops Sha'Carri Richardson, BIA, and Sandy Cheeks. Each time he name drops these fine ladies, he holds up a picture of them.

I could not help but to notice, and laugh, because he did the same thing in the Beatbox Freestyle. The Beatbox Freestyle released earlier this year, in February. The energy is just as on point, and he takes delivering his messages to a whole new level. DaBaby name drops T.I. and JoJo Siwa, while holding up photos of them on his iPhone. He mentions the film Paid In Full, then shows himself watching on the TV. DaBaby even went as far to talk about burning bridges, while he holds up a piece of printer paper with the image of a bridge on it, and takes a lighter to the paper.

I would have to think that DaBaby is somewhat trolling fans. It is not like we are breaking down serious forms of wordplay to understand what he is saying in his rhymes. Typically, I would find the gesture to be a bit corny, but DaBaby is just here to entertain by any means necessary. Is this his new thing for videos? Did you catch onto the pattern? Is DaBaby still canceled after his most recent Hot97 performance?
