DaBaby’s Influence

DaBaby, 50 Cent

Everyone was influenced in their life to pursue their passions by somebody, and DaBaby is not afraid to admit it. DaBaby is not the first rapper to come our of North Carolina, but it does make sense that he looks a bit north for inspiration of hip-hop stars that came before them. I am talking about 50 Cent.

50 Cent has an extensive catalog dating back to the early 2000s, plenty of awards and platinum records, founding G-Unit records, and has a number of other projects under his belt, like the POWER Series and his once owned Vitamin Water company. Overall, he was one of the top rappers of his time, and developed into quite the business man. Still, his path was not easy.

DaBaby has several platinum projects, and is becoming one of the most consistent artists of today in hip-hop. Unfortunately, it seems like violence and trouble follows him everywhere he goes. 50 Cent is no stranger to this, either. Seeing the two of them link up sharing the messages they shared is powerful, and seems to provoke growth on each end.

It was DaBaby who shared an image of the two together on his Instagram feed, sharing that he has not only been studying 50 Cent for a while, but appreciates him taking the time to share some words of wisdom for himself, when many do not wish to be around the Charlotte artist. Whether they be intimidated by his success, or her violent past, 50 Cent saw past it all, and seemingly had a great chat.

While 50 Cent is one of the biggest trolls on social media, he has had his fair share of being the big brother or father figure to many new artists in hip-hop. Of course, the Tekashi 6ix9ine situation was heavy, but was quickly thrown down the drain upon his snitching trial. Next up for 50, was Pop Smoke, who 50 actually acknowledged in the comment he shared on DaBaby’s post.

50 Cent shares he was mentoring Pop Smoke, to not make certain mistakes, and be better than he was. Pop was on his way up, bringing Drill Music back to NYC. Unfortunately, he was not able to stick along long enough in order to do so. Now, 50 Cent says that DaBaby is on the top of his game, and he will be sticking around to listen to any advice.

I did think DaBaby was putting the violence behind him, several times in the past. Could this be the final push he needs to stick in the right direction? Is DaBaby going to be 50 Cent’s new ‘son?’ Is new music on the way between these two!? I hope so to all three.
