End to an Era: Desus & Mero

Desus & Mero

Desus and Mero have been a favorite for late-night talk shows and comedy podcasts for the past four years. From Complex TV, to Viceland, to Showtime, the two become a dynamic duo whose thoughts and opinions meant a lot to the culture. Overnight, we have received word that the two will be parting ways, not renewing a season five of the Desus and Mero show, in order to take on solo careers.

Desus Nice and The Kid Mero had their Showtime late night show for four seasons, which will now be coming to an end. Prior to the pandemic, the two had shows twice a week. This latest season, was just once a week, which may have hinted at the two becoming less passionate about the mutual gig. Though, they did still have a roster of A List Talents, including their most recent guest, MLB Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.

Unfortunately, the two have called it quits as the duo we know them as. The idea is that they will persue their own careers as solo talents, but do not seem to have issues that are outward facing at the time. In terms of what is next, we do know that Desus Nice has announced that upon Jimmy Kimmel taking the summer off, he will step in as one of the guest hosts. This should be happening soon, perhaps even this week.

What are you thoughts on this breakup? Will you still follow this duo in their solo careers?
