MTV Unplugged: A Hip Hop 50th Celebration of Jersey’s Finest

This summer marked the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, though we have been celebration all year. Today is no different, as MTV releases an MTV Unplugged Special, MTV Unplugged: A Hip Hop 50th Celebration of Jersey’s Finest. The special will highlight performances and odes to some of New Jerseys most beloved artists and MCs from the past fifty years in hip-hop.

When you think of hip-hop today, you may think of Brooklyn, Philly, The South, the MidWest, or the Bay Area. However, you cannot sleep on what pure talent has emerged from New Jersey over the years. The special will include performances from artists such as Queen Latifa, Wyclef Jean, Redman, Heather B and more.

“MTV Unplugged Presents: A Hip-Hop 50th Celebration of Jersey’s Finest” debuts today at 9PM ET/PT on MTV. BET will follow up airing the celebration on Friday, 12/15, followed by BET Tuesday, 12/19.
