Rocket Chamber

Tony Yayo FT Lloyd Banks Rocket Chamber

New music in the new year always starts out hott. We have yet to reach the first New Music Friday, but plenty of new singles have been released this week, and this one sticks out in particular. 2023 could be the return of G Unit.

Earlier this week, a list went viral, sharing the hip hop artists with the most YouTube views from 2022. Eminem was the number one streamed artist on YouTube, with 5,100,000,000 views. Also on the list, was old friend 50 Cent, with a respectable 1,800,000,000 views. 50 Cent shared the list, congratulated his friend Eminem, and even seemed a bit surprised that he made the list, though he had not put out new music in quite some time. He did, however, mention that he would be releasing new music this year, reminding everyone just how “nice” he is with the mic.

Coincidentally, 50 Cent’s former friends of G Unit, already dropped their first new single of the year. Tony Yayo released his first main artist single in years, and tapped G Unit affiliate Lloyd Banks to be featured on the track. Titled Rocket Chamber, the two tell a similar story, to how they really do still have what it takes to be considered a top dog in the lyrics and bar spitting face. Each artist has a verse, without a chorus needed. The East Coast gritty flow is something that has been missed, and these two have not missed a beat. While Lloyd Banks has been a bit more consistent releasing new music over the years, he also had Tony Yayo join his album as a featured artist. While 50 Cent may not be tight with the crew anymore, these two clearly are, and still have a music career in front of them.

Could this year be the return of G Unit? Would you like to see the crew make a comeback?
